What Is A Professional Wakeboarder?

Wakeboarding is a relatively new watersport that emerged in the late 1980s and has become a popular sports hobby among people. Born in Lake Alfred, Florida, Bonifay Parks became a professional wakeboarder in 1994 and began competing at the age of 14. To become a professional wakeboarder, one must gain exposure and ride in contests. Some of the most famous wakeboarders include Meagan Ethell, Bec Gange, Cory Teunissen, Guenther Oka Raph Derome, Daniel Grant, and Dominik Gührs.

The Pro Wakeboard Tour is the most dominant and credible professional wakeboard and wakesurf circuit in the world, consisting of four cash prizes. JB ONeill is a professional wakeboarder known for his tricks and is on the water most days in the summer. Brad Smeele is one of Wakeboarding New Zealand’s biggest heroes and is internationally recognized as one of the top professional wakeboarders.

JB ONeill is a two-time World Champion professional wakeboarder and reality TV star who travels the world for competitions and events. In 2024, the Pro Wakeboard Tour will feature more wakeboarders and more opportunities to learn and grow their careers.

I am a school teacher who was bitten by the travel bug many decades ago. My husband Billy has come along for the ride and now shares my dream to travel the world with our three children. The kids Pollyanna, 13, Cooper, 12 and Tommy 9 are in love with plane trips (thank goodness) and discovering new places, experiences and of course Disneyland.
