What Happened To Silverton Yachts?

Silverton Yachts, a yacht-building company that has been in business since 1969, has been acquired by Egg Harbor Group, owned by Dr. Ira Trocki. The company plans to expand its dealer network and acquire the Silverton and Ovation boat businesses. Silverton will join other yacht lines in Egg Harbor Group, including EH Yachts.

The first EH Yachts built Silverton, a 36-footer, will be launched in the Fall of 2012. Dr. Trocki has already planned an extravaganza for Silverton customers on September 9th to welcome all Silverton owners. The company will also buy the Silverton and Ovation boat businesses and hire at least some workers who were laid off when Silverton Marine Corp. closed its plant.

Silverton Marine Corp. was declared bankruptcy earlier this year but was bought by New Jersey boatbuilder Egg Harbor Yachts on July 13. The Silvertone plant was closed down in 2012, but thanks to the efforts of the purchaser, the company resumed production. Silverton boats for sale on YachtWorld range from 14,130 on lower-priced models to 483,640 for the more expensive models.

The sale of Silverton Marine Corp. and Ovation Yachts Corp. to Egg Harbor Yachts owner Ira Trocki is complete and the company is looking to expand its dealer network. The assets of Silverton Marine Corp. were sold at 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to President and Chief Restructuring Officer Ira Trocki.
