Aruba’s snorkeling spots are primarily located on the northern tip of the island, near the main resort area. The area is home to an array of fish life, brightly colored coral, sea sponges, and dramatic boulders. From Mangel Halto Alto to Tres Trapi, visitors can find colorful tropical fish, turtles, reef formations, starfish, sea turtles, coral, and sponges.
Tres Trapi Beach is known for its colorful fish species, including triggerfish, parrotfish, zebrafish, and moray eels amid vibrant corals. Sea turtles, gentle giants, can be spotted in various snorkeling spots around the island. Swimming alongside a sea turtle is an unforgettable experience.
A colorful guide helps identify over 100 species of fish and other denizens of the waters surrounding Aruba. On the reefs, look for parrotfish and triggerfish in various hues; yellow or black-and-white striped angelfish; and, if you keep your eyes on them, yellow or black-and-white striped angelfish. In deeper waters, you’ll find octopi, green moray eels, nurse sharks, and barracudas.
Big fish, eels, and rays are likely to be seen, as well as turtles like Nomeus gronovii, Ogcocephalus nasutus, and Pufferfish boxfish. Around Malmok beach, you’ll find sergeant majors, bluehead wrasses, banded butterfly fish, trunkfish, and french angelfish. Pufferfish boxfish and pufferfish are easy to identify, while parrotfish are emblematic to coral reefs. Wrasse, with about 500 species, is another popular destination for snorkeling in Aruba.
