A Chief Stewardess on a yacht is a skilled professional responsible for five-star hospitality, various service styles, interior maintenance, and wine knowledge. They help ensure guests have the best experience by working on the yacht’s interior, providing service, and preparing cabins. A junior member of an interior team on a yacht larger than 45 to 50 meters typically starts their career in the laundry room or housekeeping rather than as a Chief Steward.

Duties are similar to other Steward(ess)es onboard the boat, but on a more senior level, including managing the interior department and training. The role of a Yachts Chief Steward is demanding and requires a unique blend of dedication, managerial skills, endurance, and meticulous attention. The stewardess on a superyacht is a hard worker with a positive, can-do attitude, taking instruction well, and having an impeccable attention to detail.

Depending on the size of the yacht, there are between 1 and 5 yacht stewardess. The duties and responsibilities as a yacht stewardess will vary with the size of the vessel. The chief stewardess is wholly accountable for the vessel’s interior, fulfilling the owners and guests’ needs in terms of hospitality and service. Under their guidance, the chief stew will also train and oversee any lower-ranking stews.

Yacht Chief Stewardess have 3 years of experience and are responsible for setting stewardess schedules for guest service and cleaning. They earn between 60K-96K and are responsible for executing and maintaining policies, rules, and regulations.
