Is Royal Caribbean cancelling cruises to Haiti in 2024?

If you’re considering booking a Royal Caribbean cruise to Labadee, their private destination located on the northern peninsula of Haiti, you’ll want to hold off. Due to the civil unrest in Haiti, Royal Caribbean has decided to suspend operations in Labadee through September 2024, prioritizing the well-being of both passengers and crew members.

Though Port-au-Prince, the capital where the majority of the aggression has occurred, is roughly six and a half hours away from Labadee, the news reports of gang violence and killings in and around the city have prompted Royal Caribbean to err on the side of caution, as Labadee isn’t a private island.

Instead, it’s a 260-acre beach site that’s walled off from the rest of the country, with Royal Caribbean employing a private security force to ensure passenger safety.

What day do cruise prices drop?

Beyond holiday periods such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Labor Day when there may be some flash sales, January and February are particularly good times to book a cruise, as the first two months of the year are considered “wave season” in the cruising industry. It’s when companies are looking to base load their ships for the year.

“Wave season is when cruise lines announce incredible promotions in an effort to sell as much unsold space for the year as possible,” explains Jeremy Hall, a travel advisor at Cruise Vacations International.

Those promotions could include free stateroom upgrades, highly reduced cruise fares, discounts on deposits, free sailings for children, complimentary airfare, and discounted beverage packages, among other offers.

Is it worth getting a balcony on a cruise ship?

Even on smaller, more luxurious ships that don’t feel crowded, a balcony is desirable; if the weather is such that you can spend a lot of time on your balcony, it’s like having an additional room.

What to Expect: The hottest new trend in expedition cruising—itineraries to the most remote destinations on earth—is vessels that have all the comforts of small luxury ships, including private balconies. Expedition vessels built since 2014 increasingly have more spacious accommodations that include verandas. Cruise lines whose newest expedition ships have private balconies include Ponant, Scenic, Seabourn, and Silversea. In other cases, lines such as Lindblad offer balconies only in top suite categories.

On Silversea’s Galapagos-based Silver Origin, a temperate climate offers lots of opportunities for enjoying your balcony; this one’s part of the Royal Suite. Photo: Silversea.

What month are cruises least crowded?

Insider Tip: Asia’s monsoon season is from May through October, which means late fall through January is overall the best time to visit Asia if you’d like more pleasant temperatures with little to no rain.. Asia cruises are most common between November and March, as most cruise lines avoid scheduling during the hottest and rainiest times of year. If your Asian adventure continues north toward Russia and the Arctic Circle, the warmest weather will likely be in July and August. The shoulder months of May, June and September through early October provide a good balance of mild weather and fewer crowds onboard. Autumn in northern Asia also brings brilliant fall foliage views and stellar landscapes.

Best Time to Cruise Australia & New Zealand. Most cruise travelers choose to visit Australia and New Zealand between November and March. Because the seasons are reversed from what Americans are used to, these months coincide with holiday vacations and bring the best weather for cruising this wonderful and diversepart of the world.

The ideal period to travel “down under” isbetween early February and mid-March, which is also the warmest time of the year in this region. New Zealand’s climate is generally temperate, but tends to vary more than Australia’s, so it’s recommended to travel with layers no matter when you visit.

What is the cheapest month to go on a cruise?

The Cheapest Months to Go on a Caribbean Cruise. The cheapest months to cruise to the Caribbean are May, September and October.

The most popular months for the Caribbean are December to April when the weather is best and it is at its driest.

If the cruise line is struggling to fill the cabins, they may well reduce the prices. I got an amazing deal on MSC’s Seaview in February 2021 to the Caribbean! They seemed unable to fill the cabins, and I was able to get a week’s fly cruise to the Caribbean from the UK for £580/$720 – incredible value!

MSC Seaview is a large ship, with a capacity of over 5000 guests! Although they were still sailing at reduced capacity after the Covid pandemic, they still were struggling to sell the cabins they needed to break even!

Hear all about that wonderful trip in the video below:

If you sail in the cheaper months you run the risk of more rain and possibly even the risk of hurricanes.

This may cause changes to itineraries as the ships avoid the worst of the weather.

When sailing, it is essential to take out cruise-specific travel insurance!

If you have an accident or a health emergency, it will cover the costs incurred.

What is less well known is that most cruise-specific travel insurance policies also will cover missed ports! If you have one or two missed ports and make a claim, you may find that it covers the initial cost of the policy!

The Cheapest Months to Go on a Norwegian Fjords Cruise. The best time to cruise to Norway is in July or August. It is cheaper to sail in April, May, and September. This is out of the school summer holidays, so there are cheaper deals to be had.

Norwegian Fjords cruises do happen year-round although the choice of cruise lines is dramatically less outside of the summer season.

Winter “Northern Lights” itineraries that take place in the winter months are far more expensive than summer sailings.

The weather in the Norwegian Fjords can be unpredictable, no matter when you sail.

If you are considering a cruise to Norway, check out the Norwegian Season Price Guide below. This gives fuller details of what to expect during the different months of the year.

Children are still at school, and the weather is usually colder and may be more unpredictable than during the peak season.

Alaska has a relatively short summer cruising season compared to other destinations.

Alaska is a place you visit for outstanding natural beauty – not to sit in the sun! If you want a cruise with guaranteed sunshine and warm weather, Alaska is probably not for you!

Cruise ships are large passenger ships used mainly for vacationing. Unlike ocean liners, which are used for transport, cruise ships typically embark on round-trip voyages to various ports of call, where passengers may go on tours known as “shore excursions”. On “cruises to nowhere” or “nowhere voyages”, some cruise ships make two- to three-night round trips without visiting any ports of call.

Modern cruise ships tend to have less hull strength, speed, and agility compared to ocean liners. However, they have added amenities to cater to water tourists, with recent vessels being described as “balcony-laden floating condominiums”.
