Princess Cruises offers a variety of cruise options, including shore excursions, which can be booked ahead of time to ensure a seamless experience. The “Ocean Ready” feature allows passengers to select their preferred cruise dates and add friends booking numbers to link them together. This feature also allows for the creation of travel parties, where passengers can share their experiences and make the most of their time off the ship.
One of the key features of Princess Cruises is the “travel Party” feature, which allows passengers to add friends booking numbers to link them together. This feature ensures that everyone will be on the same bus when booking a cruise. Princess Cruises also provides tips and tricks for making your sailing even better, such as finding shore excursions, swimming with other members, and exploring Alaska’s best attractions.
Small Group excursions are another budget-friendly option, allowing travelers to connect with other travelers and their destinations in an immersive and authentic way. To book shore excursions, users can use the “Manage Booking” feature from approximately 12 weeks before travel and up to 5 days before departure.
Residents of the U.S. or Canada can set up new groups with a minimum of 5 staterooms and a maximum of 20 staterooms held for 60 days from group creation. Travelers with special requests, such as wheelchair access and dietary concerns, should inform their booking agent, cruise vacation planner, or Princess directly. Confirmed excursions can be viewed at any time in the Cruise Personalizer and will also be listed on the Welcome page.
📹 CRUISE EXCURSIONS: Pros & Cons of Cruise VS Private Excursions (my exact planning process)
Going on a cruise and planning your shore excursions? Avoid these mistakes when booking excursions with the cruise line, …
Can I leave the cruise ship without an excursion?
Carnival does not require passengers to book shore excursions to leave the ship, as public transportation is available at each port. Instead, passengers can visit local libraries, bookstores, or websites to determine their desired destinations. Carnival does not offer alternatives from its established shore excursion program, but all excursions sold through Carnival are coordinated with reputable tour operators and include popular sites.
Booking excursions through Carnival guarantees the ship’s presence in port until all guests return, while independent excursions may not be recognized. Additionally, some ports may have visa requirements that may prevent passengers from venturing off on their own.
How do I add a travel companion?
To add or remove a travel companion, go to the booking details and select ‘travel company’. You can add or remove companions, including those staying the same number of days as you. The total price of your stay will be adjusted, including an increase in tourist tax, and you will be notified via email. If you added a companion, you can pay the additional amount under ‘payment information’. Extra beds and towels will be provided for guests. If someone is no longer coming, you will receive the part back upon arrival at the resort.
Can I do my own excursions on a cruise?
Most ports of call don’t require a shore excursion to explore, as you can walk into town or catch a cab. However, in some destinations, a shore excursion or independently operated guided tour is highly encouraged, especially in areas where navigation is difficult or tourism infrastructure is not yet fully developed. How do you make a travel companion?
Select your intended destinations and provide a brief description of your travel plans in the company of a companion. Your profile will be visible on a list where other travelers can contact you and discuss plans. To embark on a journey of discovery, one must first register with the platform to find a travel companion. Once this has been done, the two parties can then embark on their respective travel adventures.
Are shore excursions worth it?
Shore excursions are a popular part of cruise trips, offering guided tours and private beach clubs to make the most of your time in each port. While not mandatory, they can be a worthwhile experience. Shore activities can be divided into two categories: those sold directly by the cruise line and those through local or third-party companies. As an avid cruiser, I have experienced both types of excursions and have had both positive and negative experiences.
One of my favorite shore excursions was a resort day pass in St. Kitts, booked through a third-party travel site, and another was a guided tour of top attractions in Jamaica, booked directly through Carnival while on one of their ships.
Can two people share a drink package on a cruise?
This is a personal package, serving one beverage per guest and available for individual purchase. Packages are for single use and cannot be shared. An 18 gratuity is automatically added to pre-cruise or onboard purchases of a beverage package, except where prohibited by law. Gratuities can be modified at the guest’s discretion. Packages can be purchased up to 72 hours before sailing online or onboard on the first day of the cruise. For more information, ask at any bar or check for table setup promotions.
What happens if you get caught sharing drinks on a cruise?
If you are caught sharing a drinks package on a cruise, you may face a warning or be told off. If the issue occurs again, your package may be cancelled without a refund. Some drinks packages can cost over $100/£80 per person per day, so it’s important to avoid cancellations mid-cruise. Having your package cancelled mid-cruise and not being able to use it is frustrating and can lead to missed opportunities.
Can you share a drink package on a Princess Cruise?
The price listed is in USD and excludes service charge, which is 18 for all itineraries excluding Australia. Purchase price may vary due to currency exchange rates. Beverage package charges are calculated based on the total number of days of the cruise and must be purchased for the full length of the voyage. Mixologist Rob Floyd has refreshed cocktail menus across the Princess fleet, combining guest favorites with locally inspired flavors to create memorable moments.
How do I add companion mode?
To connect with Companion mode in Google Meet, tap a video meeting from your upcoming meetings and enter it with a code or nickname. Under your self view, tap Use Companion mode. Some features require specific Google Workspace editions. In Companion mode, your mic and video are turned off to avoid audio feedback. This feature is useful for hybrid meetings where participants are remote or in meeting rooms, where they don’t have access to individually chat, upvote questions, or answer polls.
Does Princess Cruises offer private excursions?
A private car with guide is an ideal option for passengers seeking flexibility and a private tour. This experience is limited to groups of up to two guests and is highly limited, so reservations are advised early. Entrance fees, meals, gratuities, and refreshments are not included, and passengers are advised to bring enough Euros to cover expenses. No deviations to the duration, departure, or return time can be made. The tour is ordered per vehicle, with the entire cost charged to the person’s shipboard account. Once onboard, a letter requesting travel plans is sent. Capacity is up to two guests.
During the custom tour, the camera serves as a constant companion for taking memorable shots. One of the joys of foreign travel is discovering new cuisine, and visiting a restó bar can offer tapas like magra con tomate, longaniza roja y blanca, and almejas à la gaditana. For dessert, try dulce de leche, a caramel spread tucked inside sweet pastry, frosted onto cakes, and made into ice cream.
How to link travel companions on Princess app?
In order to link the booking numbers of one’s friends, it is necessary to navigate to the “Journey View” section and select the “Travel Companions” option. Subsequently, select the “Travel Party” option and choose “Add Guests.”

We have our 6 princess cruise booked this April to Hawaii we have never had issues with drinks finding us in a timely manner we have also order pizza to the sky walker lounge and finding us in a timely manner Renewer when your in port at lot of the staff are also getting leave so they may go to port and get personnel supplies so yes expect delivery may be a little slower and this may be the days you walk to the bar and get a drink or go to the buffet for your food We have cruised Princess Celebrity Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Princess has always made our vacation perfect fun relaxing and memorable
Good tips to know! I totally agree with the drink delivery. As you said, you have to plan on being in one spot for a long time, which is not something you normally do on a cruise ship. One thing I learned is that when you belly up to a bar, your medallion links to the bartender’s computer and your name and picture both come up on a screen in front of them. If you are the paranoid type, you may not like being this closely tracked while on board.
Been on 12 Princess cruises and I am Platinum too. One thing to know about the Princess ships: they vary in service(s) and the staff know this. When Princess started the process of installing the Medallion equipment on the ships, it was very buggy, now it works very well, but mostly on the newer “regal / royal class” ships. This is because the newer ships were designed with the medallion and internet accessibility in mind. Princess used the pandemic time to upgrade the older ships as much as possible, unfortunately, the smaller ships just aren’t amenable to all this new technology. After the pandemic, we have cruised on the Enchanted, the Crown, the Discovery and the Sky. Amazingly the medallion services, internet, service have all been excellent. Our next cruise this fall will be back on the Enchanted. Even the Crown, which is an older ship, had great medallion services. Looking forward to the new “sphere class” ships. Should be interesting. From the start, I could not agree with about 50% of what Jayson was saying; and I finally figured out what the problem was when he finally mentioned the fact that this whole post was about the Caribbean Princess which is one of the oldest ships in the fleet and not the best one to use to talk about the overall Princess experience. 1. Always have the medallion mailed to your home. After the medallion experience, our onboard process is usually less than ten minutes from the parking lot / cab stand to our cabin or lunch in one of the casual dining restaurants.
I highly recommend the balcony dinner. We did it on the Emerald Princess on the Panama Canal cruise. The food was amazing & the service was fantastic. Do if you have something special for us it was our 50th wedding anniversary & worth every penny. But just make you are extra hungry because you really do get a lot of yummy delicious foods.
I just finished a webinar for Princess (I am a travel consultant for Expedia Cruises) and they were saying they have improved the Wi-fi a lot over the past year. I hope you’re able to see the improvement. Caribbean Princess was our very first cruise, and I loved it then, so I’m sure the 2019 update is great!
Wow. I am sorry for your experiences. We love Carribbean Princess. One of our favourite ships. Until recently, we could not have our medallions delivered, (we are in Canadian) and never once have we had to wait more than a few minutes to pick them up. We also never had bad internet. Compared to other cruise lines, we always found Princess to be better overall. We love Alaska and wouldn’t sail with anyone else. When we did our research, almost everything we read said, Princess is the best cruise line for Alaska for many reasons. One being best overall itineries that are offered. Of course a lot of things you mentioned are subjective and we are all allowed our opinions. So I just shared ours. Happy cruising⚓️🛟🛳
I found this really helpful as I’m going to be on the Caribbean Princess Cruise next week. There are sooooo many changes from the last time I went on a cruise that I’m not really happy about. What I used to Have when I signed up for this cruise I Don’t Have now. I truly feel I (actually there are 12 of us going on this cruise) should have been able to Keep what I/we signed up for and everyone else signing up after the changes were made would abide by the new changes, that would have been fair. This is like a Bait and Switch deal. Once again, I liked all the information you gave and found it very informative. I signed up to watch your articles and look forward to perusal more of them 😊
Hi Jayson, Great recommendations. For the Sanctuary I book it the moment I board, I’ve had no trouble getting a reservation. My Medallion wrist band I purchased through Princess, it’s made from recycled plastic bottles and comes in a cool Caribbean blue color. I have to admit, the buffet on Princess’s is pretty bad. Really. Salty dog was great. I think it’s more cultural for me. I’m Latin, many cruises we take out of Miami have a number of us on, Carnival, Royal Caribbean seem to be able to read the room, lol. They have buffet food with a bit more Sabor, lol Great article Jayson. I look forward to them. Funny we are booked on the Caribbean Princess in January.
I thought Princess was the best of the best for Alaska. But now, learning there’s no covering on the pool deck for the Discovery, no more room service included, zero arcades for rainy days and I’m unsure how movies under the stars even works in cold climates! I don’t know whether to cancel and try another line or what. These are helpful tips if we stay booked!
I’ll give you another lesson on princess cruises. Princess cruises employ their crew on slave labour rates. For example I was employed as a bar steward with other passenger safety/security duties, working at least 12 hours a day. For this work I was paid 50 dollars A MONTH and expected to make up a decent wage selling cocktails of which I recieved 15%. Keep in mind when you cruise next that the service crew are slaves and are paid slaves wages. I’m speaking from experience.
Just got off Caribbean princess everything was good but honestly the medallion is a joke concept it does not work opening your cabin door and getting on of ship is ok but ordering anything is ridiculous and they don’t tell you that it’s not compatible with every phone. Princess scrap the medallion it’s not working
I didn’t find out about this stupid Medallion until I paid for my Dec 2023 cruise. I only used my phone for calls because I couldn’t get a regular phone any more. I never liked so call text or dumb apps and I couldn’t see the small text any way. I had hard time to find some one to help me with this crap and Princess customer service never answered my calls. It was not fair for us senior citizens. I will not choose Princess again on future cruise because of this stupid Medallion.
