Is Norwegian Cruise Line Priority Access Worth It?

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) offers a Priority Access program for cruise passengers, which includes features related to priority check-in, boarding, tendering, and debarkation. The program is priced at 99 USD per cabin and includes a range of services such as complimentary daily breakfast room service. However, some passengers find the extra cost to be worth it, as they may not be able to enjoy the benefits of the program.

One group of passengers who had Priority Access was charged 11.94 (9.95 plus 20%) per day for their breakfast and had to go to guest rooms. However, the 199 USD per cabin was well worth the convenience and benefits offered by the program. For instance, if a group of travelers booked 3rd party excursions, they would have to pay an additional 199 USD per cabin for their breakfast.

In terms of cost, the 199 USD per cabin was well worth the convenience and benefits offered by the Priority Access program. However, if the extra cost fits within the budget, it may not be worth the extra cost. It is important to consider the individual benefits of Priority Access and pay special attention to room service charges if you choose to order the standard room service breakfast.

In conclusion, while the Norwegian Priority Access program offers numerous benefits, it is not always worth the extra cost for some passengers. It is essential to weigh the costs and benefits before making a decision on whether to add this service to your cruise.

Why get priority boarding?

Flyers with priority boarding avoid long lines, get guaranteed access to overhead bins, have more time to settle in their seat, and, if there’s no specific seat assigned, have the right to choose the one they prefer.

Depending on the airline and the ticket type, priority boarding can be obtained in different ways:

Buying priority boarding as an add-on when booking tickets or checking in online;; having a frequent flyer elite status with the airline or its alliance partners;; purchasing a higher fare class (first class, business class, etc.);; having a co-branded credit card with the airline that offers priority boarding as a perk;; being a corporate traveler with an eligible travel agreement with the airline, etc.;

Which side of a cruise ship is best for Norwegian?

Starboard Strategically. On the other hand, the starboard side may be better for the north cruises. This positioning enables passengers to be among the first to witness Norway’s breathtaking fjords and mountains. Sailing through the Trollfjord, which has towering cliffs on the starboard side, could be particularly advantageous.

Consider Your Itinerary. To make a well-informed decision, have a look at your cruise schedule. The first cruises took northern to southern directions, and the second took the south to north direction. The choice between port and starboard greatly determines your enjoyment based on the particular fjord and ports you will be visiting. Make sure to research the planned route of your cruise and then choose the appropriate cabin.

Panoramic Suites and Balconies. Consider a panoramic suite or a cabin with a private balcony for the perfect Norwegian cruise. These premium rooms offer uninterrupted vistas and enable you to absorb Norway’s splendor from your space’s convenience. The experience is further enhanced by having a private outdoor area, especially during scenic cruising and sailing through narrow fjords.

Does Norwegian let you board early?

Embarkation Time. Embarkation time is when you should arrive at the cruise terminal. We ask that you please do not arrive any earlier than one hour prior to the embarkation time noted in your eDocs, because security regulations might prohibit early entrance.

Departure Time. Departure time is when your ship sets sail. We highly encourage you to board no later than two hours prior to the departure time noted in your eDocs. This will give you enough time to complete your check-in at the cruise terminal before boarding; your online check-in must be completed prior to arrival.

What is the best month to go on a Norwegian cruise?

The cruise season in Norway is between June and August, but many prefer to go in late spring and early summer to beat the crowds and enjoy the long days exploring fjords and discovering wildlife including polar bears and walruses. The sun shines for 24 hours a day during the summer months in northern Norway and the ice has melted, making for exciting opportunities to spot animals during the evenings at places that can’t be reached during the rest of the year.

Norway cruises that visit Svalbard travel through an archipelago that is often referred to at the wildlife capital of the artic. Excursions that visit here are polar adventures as the region is located between mainland Norway and the North Pole.

The fjords of Northern Norway have their own highlights, including a chance to see the Northern Lights. Far off fishing villages, hikes on glaciers in snowshoes, and discovering the Norse history through ancient artifacts make these trips once a lifetime experience.

What does priority embarkation mean?

Priority check in means that once through security, you get in an express line to the check in counter. Priority embarkation means you are called to board before group 1. This is how it has worked our last three cruises.

We just became Platinum so that is disappointing as I was looking forward to “Priority Check-in / Embarkation” from NYC. There are other benefits that sound good though, like 2 specialty dinners (limited $ value), a behind-the-scenes tour, free bag of laundry, wine tasting and some other meaningless things. Are these available and awarded? I like Celebrity but it takes a lot longer to move to a new tier with them!

And you will be, technically, boarded immediately after the Haven.

At this instant in time, they are still not allowing germy guests behind the scenes.

Do cruise gratuities actually go to staff?

Cruise lines say they pass the money collected from service charges to the shipboard crew. They say the money is shared not just with front-of-house crew, such as room attendants and waitstaff, but also with behind-the-scenes workers. In that sense, the current system is more equitable than the old system of cash tipping, which favored certain workers, lines say.

Still, some critics see the charges as a sneaky way for cruise lines to make their fares appear lower than they really are. In this line of thinking, lines with these charges are essentially breaking out a good chunk of onboard labor costs as a separate line item on your bill.

How service charges are levied. At most lines, you can pay your service charges before sailing (at the same time you pay your cruise fare). Alternatively, you can have the charges added to your room bill on board.

What does priority disembarkation mean?

Priority Disembarkation means you get yellow luggage tags so that your bags are the first available in the luggage hall (after suites). And you will be the first non-suites to be called for disembarkation.

It doesnotmean that you will be escorted off the ship nor does it mean you get any special treatment other than early bags in the baggage hall. You have to wait in the (long) lines to get off the ship and into the baggage hall and customs.

It is close to being a non-benefit since the first color tags will come soon after the priority tags.

What happens if you don’t tip on a cruise?

You will get a daily charge for the gratuities, and your CC will be charged automatically. You can go to Guest Services and have them removed if you are a selfish prick; but, the crew works their tails off to make sure YOUR cruise is enjoyable and memorable, don’t be an ass and not reward them for their hard work.
