American Airlines aims to be the safest airline globally, with a commitment to operating safely for both customers and employees. In 2023, they transported around 211 million customers. American’s Safety Assurance program ensures the effectiveness of risk controls and the performance of their SMS. This includes several programs and initiatives, including Aviation Safety Action Programs (ASAPs), which encourage confidential reporting of potential hazards and errors without fear of punishment. American was the first airline to create an ASAP, providing greater coverage than the industry average.
Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) is a voluntary safety program administered jointly by American and the Allied Pilots Association. FOQA uses routinely recorded flight data to proactively identify and correct deficiencies in flight operations. Regular flight monitoring and algorithms are used to identify potential safety risks and trends, allowing American to monitor aircraft systems, performance, and operational efficiency, and better understand pilot performance in the operating environment.

What is the flight risk in the US?
A flight risk is a term used by courts to describe a person or defendant who is likely to flee the area to avoid criminal prosecution. When a defendant is first arrested and charged with a crime, they have two options: remain in custody or be released. If the defendant is facing minor misdemeanor charges and has no prior criminal history, they will likely be released on their own recognizance (OR Release).
If the defendant is facing serious misdemeanor or felony charges or has a prior criminal record, bail is likely set pursuant to the uniform bail schedule for the county where the defendant is required to appear. If the defendant is unable to post bail, they will remain in custody and brought before the court within 48 hours of their arrest.
At the first court hearing, known as the arraignment, the defendant will be read the criminal charges against them and may be represented by a privately retained criminal attorney or a public defender. The judge may set bail or review the previously set bail, following county guidelines or deviating from that schedule if the judge believes the defendant could be a flight risk. Factors considered in setting the appropriate bail include the defendant’s ties to the community, the nature of the crime and the risk to public safety, the defendant’s prior criminal history, whether the defendant failed to appear for required court appearances, and whether the defendant is currently employed in the community.
Is flying safe if I’m scared?
Air travel is becoming safer than ever, with studies showing an odds of one in 1. 2 million being involved in a plane crash. This is significantly less likely than the one-in-5, 000 odds of a car accident. If you find yourself on a plane where things have gone wrong, chances are you’ll survive. These numbers suggest that it’s perfectly safe to step onto a giant death trap, but if you choose to fly, consider performing a DIY plane inspection before ordering a Bloody Mary.

📹 How Safe Is Air Travel?
Unless you’ve avoided television and the Internet entirely over the past few years, it has been almost impossible not to be aware …
Guys dont be scared of planes its just like any other vehicles but safer the pilots are highly trained and the plane is way stronger than u think plus air travel can save u from alot of things like earthquakes tsunamis and even volcanoes that is if u live in Hawaii the plane is actually built and well aquipped sorry for my grammmer i am spanish (:
Guys here is the general issue with statistics in general. It’s based on the past and not the present. Tell those stats to the dead people that got involved in plane crashes. On the other hand, how many people you know have gotten involved in car wrecks and walk away just fine. How many family members or friends call you up on the phone and said I just got in a car wreck and say they’re ok maybe a little rough up. Getting in a car wreck is not a death sentence. It’s essentially part of life. Yes, there are fatalities when it comes to cars. But there are billions upon billions of cars that travel every day and have uneventful trips if not downright boring. Ask any pilot, flight attendant, gate attendant, ramp worker, etc. What accident they would rather be involved in an airplane crash or a car crash if they had to take a chance not knowing the outcome which one would they choose? Every single one would say car crash. Now, why is that? Simply, one thing that stats don’t look at is risk versus doing something risky. Airplanes are by far very risky. You are jumping off a runway at 150+ mph, accelerating to 500mph, climbing to crazy high altitudes. You are depending on every single mechanical and hydraulic machinery to work perfectly in a 3d environment. Add weather, turbulence, and the aircraft frame itself. You are doing something risky. Humans have found a way to minimize that risk through safety. But the pure action itself is risky. Let say skydiving had almost no accidents, and billions of people did it every year.
Oh yeah..tell that to the people who died in planes. Especially in the last 5 years. If your time’s up it’s up and no matter where you are, you will be going but on a damn plane it is so so so bad. RIP for all those who have gone through their worst nightmare and died. No comfort. No closure. No mercy. A rollercoaster is bad enough..imagine a plane out of control or on fire or stalling or or or the young inexperienced 3rd world country pilots
Trains are safer folks, the stats on safest ways to travel are skewed! When they publish train accident deaths the vast majority of people they are talking about are people who were hit BY the train, they were not on the train itself during the accident, cars parked on tracks etc. So the likelihood of being killed on a train is actually considerably less than a plane if you look at the correct stats.
