Always have extra money with you while in the Philippines. If you go to a hospital and have insurance they will still require you pay upfront cash. Or else they will let you die. They will tell you you have to go to your insurance company to get reimbursed for all the money you give them. Be advised have money on you.

If you are a naturalized US citizen but can prove you were a Philippine-born citizen, i.e Philoippined passport or birth certificate, you and your foreign spouse or child do not need travel insurance as you are exempted under the Balikbayan Visa Privilege.
