Leave one item you don’t care about in the Cargo of your old Freighter to initiate the dialog boxes to move inventory over to new freighter. This should prompt the second dialog box to transfer your current base freighter base to your new freighter. If all goes well, you should see your freighter base in your new freighter. Once you choose to purchase the new freighter, the game will autosave. This is where manual saves were wonderful if the base didn’t transfer over. You could always reload. Check the times on your saves. Hopefully when the game autosaves it doesn’t overwrite your restore point just in case something doesn’t transfer over.
