JB ONeill and Graeme Burress have shared a video on YouTube about building a wakeboard kicker for wakeboarding on a lake. With the recent trend of sliders and kickers in wakeboarding videos and the addition of these items to the Pro Tour, many people are interested in building these obstacles. In this video, world champion wakesurfer and @MasterCraftBoats pro rider, Jett Lambert, breaks down the basics of wakeskating to help beginners and intermediates build a perfect kicker.
To build a kicker, first decide on the size of your kicker and buy the appropriate amount of lumber. Use treated 14 Plyform for the surface and make it less steep before putting it in the water. You may need to weight down the ramp end to lower it under water a few inches, but this will make it even more steep.
To measure 48 inches up the front of the frame and make a mark on both vertical edge posts, take a 14-foot 2×4 and measure 48 inches up the front of the frame.
