The ASCE Concrete Canoe Competition is a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on practical experience while testing their skills with concrete mix designs and project management challenges. The competition returns this summer as an in-person event for the first time since 2019, and students from around the world will travel to participate. An ASCE membership login is required to participate in discussion forums and ASCE Mentor Match.
Students who join may expect to gain design experience in concrete mix, hull shape development, visual and graphic design, and report writing. Any ASCE concrete canoe participant from an accredited school with a two- or four-year engineering or construction-related degree program entering the ASCE Concrete Canoe can participate.
The Concrete Canoe Competition Committee (C4) is excited to release the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 2022-2023 competition. Only registered participants are eligible to present on behalf of their team at the Technical Presentation, participate in races, or any other event.
To become a concrete canoe team member, students interested in joining should contact the canoe team at uhconcretecanoeteam@. To ensure a smooth and safe registration process, students must complete the waiver.
Only undergraduates are permitted to be on the competitive team, but graduate students are welcome to serve as mentors. The OSU ASCE Student Symposium in early April combines the ASCE Concrete Canoe Student Competition and other activities.
In summary, the ASCE Concrete Canoe Competition offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on practical experience and leadership skills by working with concrete mix designs and projects.
