How To Get Diving Gear In Terraria?

The Arctic Diving Gear is a craftable accessory that allows users to swim and breathe underwater for extended periods. It combines the functionality of the Flipper and Diving Helmet, allowing the wearer to move faster across ice and no longer slide on ice. The gear is a direct upgrade to the Arctic Diving Gear and Depths Charm, and when equipped, it reduces damage caused by underwater activities. The diving gear also works with lava, but prolonged exposure to magma is not possible.

The Arctic Diving Gear is useful for exploring flooded areas, as it can be obtained in pre-Hardmode, even before any boss is defeated. It loses utility when equipped. The Abyssal Diving Gear is a craftable Hardmode accessory that is a direct upgrade to the Arctic Diving Gear and Depths Charm. The Jellyfish Diving Gear is an accessory crafted by combining the Jellyfish Necklace and Diving Gear at a Tinkerers Workshop.

The Diving Gear is a combination of a set of flippers and a dive helmet, a rare drop from the shark. It is a valuable tool for exploring flooded areas and is a valuable addition to any player’s armor set.

How do you get angler gear in Terraria?

Angler armor is an armor set consisting of an Angler Hat, Angler Vest, and Angler Pants. Each piece of the set provides a 5% increase to Fishing Power and can be received as a reward for completing Fishing quests given by the Angler NPC. The hat is given at 10 quests completed, the vest piece at 15, and the pants at 20. Although its effects on fishing are useful throughout the game, it only rewards a total of 4 defense.

  • Set(). Tips(). As the low defense of this armor can put Hardmode players at a disadvantage, it is recommended to take measures when fishing (e.g. a box of blocks with a floor of platforms, Peace Candles, Traps, Minions) in order to prevent enemies from getting too close and/or quickly killing the player.

How to get infinite water breathing in Terraria?

Neptune’s Shell and its upgrades — Moon Shell and Celestial Shell — eliminate the breath meter while underwater, making breathing time unlimited. The Gills Potion eliminates the breath meter while underwater for the length of the buff (2 minutes in total).

The breath meter appears when a player’s head is under either water or honey, representing the time the player has until they begin drowning. The breath meter consists of 10 ( ) / 5 ( ) air bubbles (one shown on the right) which fade and disappear gradually as long as the character’s head is submerged. When the breath meter is depleted, the player begins to drown and health is lost. The breath meter refills in 1.12seconds (from zero breath; quicker when more is left, e.g. 0.56seconds from half breath) as soon as the player emerges from liquid.

For breathing purposes, the player is considered “under water” when the pixel right above their eye is under water. This roughly correlates to just a pixel above where the water will be if the player stands in two full tiles of water with a tile of air in the third tile they occupy. Half-blocks can leave players drowning. In older versions and the Old-gen console version, this was actually the very top pixel of the head. It was changed to prevent players from drowning when their head bumped water-filled blocks.

If a Fish Bowl is worn in the equipment slot, the breath meter appears because the player’s head is technically underwater. Breathing equipment and potions can still be used to counter this effect. The lava timer from the Lava Charm and other lava protection gear actually overrides the breath meter visually. This means that if the player’s head is in water and the feet are in lava, you can drown without seeing the breath meter.

What is immune to drowning Terraria?

NPCs can also drown if stuck or forced underwater, making this a very effective way of killing NPCs. Notably, house validity is not affected by liquids, meaning they can be ‘automatically’ drowned by flooding their house. The only NPC that is immune to drowning is the Skeleton Merchant, although the Nurse can heal herself fast enough to avoid drowning.

Drowning may happen at any place with large enough bodies of water or honey to fully submerge the player, with the Ocean and Bee Hives being prime natural candidates for such an event. Equipping a Fish Bowl can be used to manually drown the player. Lava can never drown the player; it deals damage on contact instead.

Drowning time(). The rate at which health is lost changes depending on which breathing equipment or potions are used. Times shown below are in real-world time (not game time).

Note that the Breathing Reed needs to be held in order to take effect.;

Is there an item in Terraria that lets you breathe underwater?

Other useful items include the following, which can be found commonly as part of normal chest loot:

  • Gills Potion, allowing the player to breathe underwater for 4 minutes
  • Shine Potion, providing light without the need to hold or throw Glowsticks
  • Flipper Potion, which does the same thing as Flippers (see above)
  • Recall Potion/Magic Mirror, used to teleport out instantly if the player gets attacked by a Shark or starts drowning

Map view of an Ocean Cave on the left side of the world.

The Ocean contains Water Chests at its bottom, and has a 25% chance of extending into a cave-like structure which contains additional Water Chests. A quick but risky strategy to loot these chests early-game is to obtain a Recall Potion and Glowsticks and then immediately dive in, looting chests as quickly as possible until your breath runs out, at which point you drink the Recall Potion to escape. Lucky players may immediately find one of the above items and be able to continue their expedition, surfacing to breathe as needed.
