How To Cross The Wake On A Wakeboard?

This video instruction by Darin Shapiro teaches how to cross the wake on a wakeboard, from correct wakeboarding riding posture to proper landing. It is part of an instructional series from Hyperlites Learn to Ride Guide. The guide focuses on edgecarving on a wakeboard and crossing the wake with ease. Three useful tips for crossing over the wake include:

1. Start by crossing the wake on your heel edge and jump to the center of the wakes to get used to being in the air.

2. Make the rope longer, only crossing the wake, and shorten it after turning down. It is recommended to leave it between 15-feet to 25-feet.

3. Land a jump on a wakeboard by keeping your eyes focused on the opposite wake and preparing to jump.

4. Approach the wake at about 45 degrees for maximum control. Crossing the wake is a step up that builds on edging, moving the wakeboard from side to side. After riding for a while, you can cross the wake by turning your chest and shoulders more open toward the boat. Keep your eyes focused on the opposite wake as you approach it.
