A Pond Yacht is a traditional English free sailing pond yacht made using a buoyant hull of a suitable size, which can be launched by hand and is suitably balanced with a weighted keel. Free sailing is the simplest form of model yachting, and the direction of the yacht is governed by the angle of the sails to the wind. With no electrics or RRC on board, there is no way to alter the course of the yacht once set up.
In this course, each student will begin the construction of their own pond sailboat using the plank on frame process, similar to those used in building full-sized boats. This practice allows for a flowing hull and allows for a flowing hull. The 12in DRAGONFLY is a traditional English free sailing pond yacht redesigned, with a solid wooden hull hand-carved from light weight.
Sailing upwind, the boat sailed on balance only, with the tiller centered by the elastic. It is generally good to set all the sails slackly at first to ensure good performance in almost any wind conditions. However, model boats do not sail as well as purposely, and they do not respond as well as a nicely balanced sailing dinghy.
The main-sheet balance method is the preferred method in the United States, where the boom is connected with the tiller in such a way that the boom is connected to the tiller. Many hours have been spent making sure the mast is in the correct position along the hull so that it is perfectly balanced.
In conclusion, building a traditional wooden pond yacht requires careful planning, attention to detail, and a focus on balancing the rig to ensure smooth sailing.
