How High In Feet Is The Average Diving Board?

Diving boards come in various heights to accommodate different skill levels and preferences. Common diving board heights for residential pools are around 1 meter (3.3 feet) or 3 meters (10 feet). In competitive diving, standard heights for springboard diving range from 9 to 16 feet, depending on its style and height. Most diving boards come in standard lengths of 6, 8, or 10 feet, with the length chosen being proportional to the size of your pool.

Men compete at the world championships from platforms that are 27 meters tall (89 feet). The diving boards should be 16 feet (4.87 meters) long, 20 inches (500.80). High diving boards range in height from 3 to 10 meters (about 10 to 33 feet), which is roughly the height of a three-story building. Most high diving boards are rigid, with the average length of a diving board being six feet. Children as young as three or as young as five years old are commonly found on shorter diving boards.

Diving pools must be at least 34 feet long—ideally 36 to 38 feet—because their total size must break down to roughly one-third for the diving well. Diving boards in public pools are 30 feet high, making them taller than most cliffs. Water pressure can distort the body in ways that are not always obvious during high-diving, putting the diver at risk of harm.

Lower boards are typically set at three feet and three inches above the water level. Anything higher than this is generally overkill for a residential pool setting. There is no official height for a backyard diving board but generally they are around 3 feet from the surface of the water. Platform diving involves jumping from a high stationary surface, with heights ranging from 10 meters (33 ft) to 5 meters (16 ft).

In other official competitions, men generally dive from a height of 22-27 meters (72-89 ft) while women dive from a height of 18-23 meters (59-75 ft). The sport’s dimensions include a non-slip surface and an easily adjustable fulcrum.
