How Far Is Condado Beach From Cruise Port?

Playita del Condado is a family-friendly beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico, offering a safe swimming area, clear water, and snorkeling opportunities. The walk from the cruise port to El Escambrón takes about 30 minutes each way, and there are two ways to get there: by bus or taxi. It takes over an hour to reach Playa Seven Seas from the cruise port and a 25-minute walk to Playa Escondida.

The closest beach to the cruise port is Condado Beach in the Condado neighborhood, which can be reached in a cab less than 10 minutes. There are no beach bars on the beach, so you can visit Laguna del Condado (Condado Lagoon) or Old San Juan Piers. The Pan American Pier is a 5-minute drive, a 30-minute walk, or a taxi due to traffic.

From Condado to Pan American Pier is about 15 minutes depending on traffic. Playa Ocean Park is also within walking distance of the cruise port, but it is not in Old San Juan. Condado Beach is free to access and extends several miles east of downtown.

The walking distance from the cruise port to Old San Juan is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles, so wear comfortable shoes and allow at least 30-45 minutes for the walk. Some of the best things to see, do, and eat within walking distance of the cruise port in San Juan include Castillo San Juan, Playa Ocean Park, and Playa Ocean Park.

  • THANKS ZACH – Great article as always! We love Old San Juan and have traveled there for weekends after our first cruise there. There are a few questionable areas known well for drug transactions jut near el Morro so be advised. The walk on the outside of the Government buildings to el Morro is very safe and spectacular. The area around the Cathedral and stopping in Hotel El Convento just next door is amazing. It used to be a convent and has a beautiful courtyard with a lobby bar that serves food too – well worth the stop while in port or a planned stay when coming back for a few days.
