How Far Is Big Canoe From The Ocean?

Canoeing kayaking is a popular activity that can be enjoyed in the ocean, with many tour operators offering sheltered bays and inlets for exploration. However, it is important to stay close to the shore to avoid trouble or even worse.

Talent canoes of 17 feet, six inches to 18 feet, six inches in length are recommended for ocean paddling due to their speed and seaworthiness in rough conditions. Traditional Polynesian navigators like Mau Piailug could determine the size and direction of up to five different ocean swells by feeling the beat of water against their vessels’ hulls.

Big Canoe is a gated private residential community located just an hour north of Atlanta, offering amenities for owners, guests, or rental properties. The community is situated in the mountains and is located approximately 60 minutes from Chattanooga.

One of the amenities offered at Big Canoe is an expedition kayak of 21 types, suitable for bigger rivers, lakes, and seas. Its ergonomic seat formed with a comfortable seat makes it ideal for long trips.

To access Big Canoe, take I-75 South toward Chattanooga and turn left at the Main Gate entrance or 4 miles to the North Gate. With a crew of 2 or 3, around 30 feet is reasonable, but larger canoes are faster, safer, and require more equipment.

Big Canoe, located in the lush mountain range of Northern Georgia, is an enchanting getaway and gated community that can only be visited as a homeowner.
