To achieve skilled 1 in sailing, complete the questline First Sailboat into Oquillas Eye. BDO Sailing Exp items help earn experience in leveling the Sailing Life Skill, which is important for two major reasons: ship skills and sailing buffs. BreezySail, a desired ship skill, requires Skilled 1 Sailing and helps speed up slow travel across Black Desert Online. To upgrade your ship, take a boat to Magoria, pick up the quest from the Trade NPC, and offer to take supply boxes. Do the sailing quest line to quickly level to Skilled. To get started with sailingbartering, you need a character with level 50 or higher and Skilled 1 in sailing, as well as an Epheria Sailboat or Epheria.
Currently, sailing experience is only available through quests, kiling sea monsters, or sailing in Margoria. To get started with sailingbartering, a character with level 50 or higher and Skilled 1 in sailing, along with an Epheria Sailboat or Epheria, is required.

This article is very helpful – except for one big issue. In common with nearly every YouTube article I have watch on how to kill the sea monsters, Vergelxx doesn’t use the beginner (T1) Batali Sailboat. Instead they are using a T3 Caravel, which is not only a more powerful/durable boat, but importantly allows you to fire the cannon whilst at the helm. In contrast, the Batali Sailboat and the next upgrade Tier 2 boats don’t allow you to do that – you have to stop your boat, disengage from the helm and man a canon, so unless you have a friend helping you, it’s very hard to solo this quest as a noob sailor. \r \r I set off as a level 61 with a Batali Sailboat to try this. I didn’t seem to be hitting the first sea monster at all, so moved on to the next one. TIP: the sea monsters chase you a long way if you annoy them! I ending up having 2 sea monsters attacking me. They destroyed my boat! \r \r I decided I needed a bigger boat – and bought an elphelia (sorry about spelling) T2 sailboat via pre-order on the market (btw found out too late that you can use the seals that begin with Sh – sorry can’t remember the name and am dyslexic – to buy a registration for one of these. ) A T2 boat still can’t fire canons while at the helm (I don’t think), but I decided to go bartering and work out how to upgrade it before completing the sea monster quest. Spent a couple of hours slow sailing between barter locations. I was on my way to the last location to hand in my cargo full of spoils, when I got PK’d but a player in a top of the range boat who jumped me from nowhere.
