Coming out of a Roadtrek RS Adventurous that we owned for 14 years. One of the first things I did was order a valet key from MB. That key can only be used to manually unlock a door and doesn’t have any electronics. I used it when we went swimming and simply for walks and so on. Easy to have in your pocket and would have been helpful here. Your articles are terrific with the exception of the fact that we’re 14 months into waiting for our new Unity. I’m a previous Class A motorcoach owner (42 ft) and I always got reservations all along my trips. Today I understand that perhaps due to Covid everybody and their brother bought RV’s. The only time many of them can travel is on weekends and holidays. We don’t have children at home and we always found that there’s no such thing as a quiet and peaceful weekend rv-ing due to the full family weekenders. Therefore, we traveled mostly at times everyone else was working and in school. That worked great for us and reservations were much easier to get.
We thought we locked ourselves out while boondocking in a national park in November on a Saturday night at 11pm. Luckily we found the keys in a back pocket. As soon as we got home I had duplicates of all keys made for hiding. But we also installed a keypad lock on the house access door wired into the 12v system so no batteries to die on us.
I don’t have any fancy key fobs for my 2015 Leisure travel van lol just good old keys…and I keep spare keys wrapped up in a piece of foil in a Ziploc bag in the wet bay…I always fill my freshwater tank fill it overfills….lol…Good advice about black tanks I’ve seen people do that I’ve never done it yet…just finished 3000 Carefree maintenance free miles around the country now back to Chico Ca.where it’s 109 today….😎

The front doors automatically lock if you press unlock but don’t open a door. I was also wondering what does happen if you over fill tue fresh water. Glad to know if just dumps out on the ground.

We have a small 15 lb Boston Terrier that I crated behind the driver seat on 6 hour trips but she is so stressed when we arrive she hardly eats for 10 days. I’m thinking about trying a short trip to try out having her secured to my waist sitting on my lap or beside me in the passenger seat too. It never occurred to me the dog wouldn’t like traveling.😳
