Cruise lines have reported that the majority of passengers testing positive for COVID-19 in recent weeks are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. Major cruise lines currently require all or some adult passengers to be on board. The CDC revised its guidance on Thursday, as 91 cruise ships are under investigation for COVID outbreaks onboard. Most cruise lines require adult passengers. Outbreaks of COVID-19 on cruise ships pose a risk for rapid spread of disease beyond the voyage. Aggressive efforts are required to contain spread. All persons should defer all cruise travel.
Routine vaccinations protect against infectious diseases that can spread quickly in groups of people. Outbreaks of chickenpox, flu, and COVID-19 have been reported on cruise ships. Numerous cruise ships have lifted their COVID-19 vaccine and masking requirements. If a passenger contracts the virus, cruise ships offer medical treatment and future cruise credits.
In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the disease spread to a number of cruise ships, including crowded semi-enclosed ships. The most frequently reported outbreaks involve gastrointestinal infections (e.g., norovirus), respiratory infections (e.g., coronavirus disease 2019 COVID-19, influenza), and other viral respiratory infections. A three-year study before COVID found that the median attack rate for COVID-19 was 0.2%, but there was significant transmission of 110%, considering some people get it two or three times a day on a cruise ship.
Cruise ships are susceptible to outbreaks of influenza, COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and other viral respiratory infections. The concentration of people on cruise ships, the crew, and passengers potentiates the transmission of diseases.

So, this means one of two things, and neither is a good look for the CDC. One: the CDC is bowing down to economic pressure to the detriment of our nation’s overall health, or Two: it was all a ruse from the start. If COVID is the big bad pandemic we’ve been lead to believe it is, why would you lessen restrictions on cruises? Hundreds of people cooped up in close proximity on a floating tin can for days on end. Doesn’t sound like it’s in the best interest regarding health to me.
