Does Visiting Turkey Need A Visa For British Tourists?

From March 2, British citizens can travel to Turkey without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, for business or tourism. Ordinary passport holders can obtain their 30-day single-entry e-Visas via www.evisa.gov.tr, provided they have a valid Schengen or USA, UK, Ireland visa. This visa allows entry for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period, and the passport must be valid for a minimum of 150 days from when you arrive.

However, there are no Turkish Visas for British citizens traveling to Turkey for tourist or business purposes. Instead, they need to get the Turkey Passenger Locator Form. Ordinary passport holders are required to have a visa to enter Turkey and can get their 15-day period visas from Turkish diplomatic representations abroad. UK citizens do not require a Turkey e-visa if their purpose of visit is tourism/business and they intend to leave the country before 90 days.

A Turkey Visa on Arrival allows eligible travelers to enter Turkey as tourists or for business visits. With this visa, they can stay in Turkey for up to 90 days. However, Britons need a Turkey Visa for Brits only if they plan to stay in the country for longer than 90 days. For long stays, they will need to apply for a visa.

From Friday 18 March 2022, there are no Covid travel rules in the UK, meaning that those returning to the country do not need to test, quarantine, or obtain a visa.

  • This misses a crucial fact that has caught out many people – the EU does not accept expiry dates on many UK passports, my passport has an expiration date of May **, ten years and six months after issue but the EU will only accept ten years, so they count back the six months from the previous November . This has caused a lot of people to believe that they comply with the six months rule, only to find at the airport that they are turned back because of other countries refusal to accept the UK passport validity.
