Does Disney Cruise Require Passport?

Disney Cruise Lines requires valid proof of citizenship for sailings to the Bahamas, Bermuda, Caribbean, and Mexican Riviera. This includes an original valid passport, valid at least 6 months after sailing has ended, and may also require an entry visa for the US, Fiji, Australia, or New Caledonia based on the country’s requirements. Passports must be valid up to 3 months after the completion of the cruise.

Guests boarding a Disney Cruise must provide a valid government ID and a government-issued photo ID. A passport prepares passengers for any destination and is essential in case of emergencies. Disney Cruise Line has updated its Know Before You Go – Canada page with updated health and safety protocols, including additional embarkation.

Guests can submit their ID documents online prior to sailing during the Online Check-In process. While Disney and other cruise lines allow birth certificate loopholes, it is not necessary to seek this option. If a US citizen is traveling on a round trip, they must have valid government-issued proof of citizenship to travel, along with any other requirements of the country of origin and countries.

For closed-loop cruises, valid travel documents, such as a passport or birth certificate and a government-issued photo, are required. A valid US passport is sufficient, and the photo page of the passport should be submitted. If someone in the traveling party does not have a valid passport, they can request one from the ship’s staff.

I am a school teacher who was bitten by the travel bug many decades ago. My husband Billy has come along for the ride and now shares my dream to travel the world with our three children. The kids Pollyanna, 13, Cooper, 12 and Tommy 9 are in love with plane trips (thank goodness) and discovering new places, experiences and of course Disneyland.
