Does Ammo Get Covered By Travel Insurance?

Travel insurance is a type of insurance that covers financial losses associated with traveling, providing protection for both domestic and international travel. It can reimburse for stolen items, cover emergency medical bills, and help replace lost travel documents. Ammunition must be securely packed in its original box or a hard-sided case designed to carry ammunition.

In the U.S., you can only travel with firearms and ammunition in your checked bags if you are over 18 years old. To carry a firearm and/or ammunition, you must hold either a current Firearms/Visitor Firearms Licence, a valid Import Permit, or a Law Enforcement ID. To transport firearms as checked baggage, you must be 18 years of age or over and declare them during check-in to be processed at the Firearm Desk.

To carry small arms ammunition, in quantities not exceeding 11 lbs. (5 kg) per person, as checked-baggage only. Airline approval is required for carry-on baggage, and carry-on baggage is undefined.

In summary, travel insurance covers various aspects of travel, including the handling of firearms and ammunition, as well as the regulations for bringing them along. It is essential to follow these guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.
