Do any cruise ships leave out of Virginia?

Cruise from Norfolk, Virginia. Various seasonal cruise ships depart from Norfolk, Virginia. As a cruise port, Norfolk is the departure point for Carnival cruise ships sailing to the the Bahamas, Bermuda or the Caribbean islands. However, please be aware that only a few select dates are available for cruises from Norfolk. With that said, it’s advised to check availability and reserve your cruise from Norfolk as soon as possible considering the limited amount of sailings available from this cruise port.

Although Norfolk is a popular “drive to” port, if you need to fly into the area the cruise ship dock isn’t far from Norfolk International Airport (ORF). It takes about 20 minutes for a taxi to drive the 10 miles to Nauticus in Norfolk, where the cruise terminal is located. The ride is metered and costs about $20.

Cruise passengers that drive to the pier can park at the Cedar Grove parking lot located in downtown Norfolk. It is suggested that you first drop off your luggage with a porter at the terminal before proceeding to parking. The parking fee is $15 per night, (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash and Travelers Checks are accepted), and no reservation is necessary. Complimentary shuttles are available to get you back to the pier.

Can you take a cruise from Philadelphia?

Norwegian Cruise Lines made the announcement on Wednesday. The company says its Norwegian Jewel ship will call Philadelphia its homeport from April 16th through October 17th of 2026. During that time, the Norwegian Jewel will call on Philadelphia a total of 24 times. The Philadelphia to Bermuda cruises will run seven-day and nine-day trips to Bermuda through August. And after that, you’ll be able to take an 11-day cruise from Philadelphia to Quebec City. That voyage will also stop in Saguenay, Halifax, Bar Harbor and Boston. Gotta be honest: I’m feeling the Quebec City cruise from Philadelphia a lot more than the cruise to Bermuda.

The Norwegian Jewel can accommodate more than 2,300 guests. And the cruise will depart Philadelphia from the SouthPort Marine Terminal Complex, which is down near the Navy Yard. This will mark the first time any cruises have left Philadelphia since way back in 2011. In those days, a handful of cruises departed from the Navy Yard.

So just how much will a cruise from Philadelphia to Bermuda cost you? The seven-day Philadelphia-Bermuda cruise starts at $1,197 and goes way up to $4,847, depending on what options you choose. Like, do you want to actually be able to see the ocean from your room? If so, that starts at $1,347. The first launch is April 16, 2026. I checked, and the aforementioned prices are available on that date, among other dates. The nine-day Philadelphia-Bermuda cruise starts at $1,722. Both versions include a stop in Charleston, South Carolina.

The most well-known transatlantic cruise route is Southampton to New York, or New York to Southampton. There are other options too, however. If not Southampton, you could begin or end your crossing in Hamburg in Germany or Le Havre in France. And, if not New York, you could embark in Fort Lauderdale in Florida, or end your sailing here. Some Transatlantic Crossings with Cunard also bring an opportunity to visit tropical shores, taking in the warm seas of Bermuda along the way.

While only a few cruise lines are exclusively adults-only, there are a handful of others that are geared toward grown-ups — and only grown-ups — thanks to a lack of kids clubs, activities, and other programming that would typically attract families.

What ship is docked in Philadelphia?

Docked just across the road from the Ikea in South Philadelphia sits a massive, rusting reminder of a bygone era in American history (for now, at least): the SS United States. This former “Queen of the Seas” has sat vacant at Pier 82 since 1996, as various efforts to revive her stalled out due to a lack of funding.

But how did the ship wind up in Philly to begin with?

The largest passenger ship ever built in the U.S., the SS United States is an engineering marvel. It’s narrow enough (101 feet) to safely navigate the locks of the Panama Canal, but nearly 1,000 feet long. At its tallest points, this ship is comparable to a 15-story building.
