Once you have this department, you can drop your population back to 50,000 through wealth conversion and expand your city.
A culture specialization includes various landmarks that you can place once you place a department of tourism on your city hall. However, you can only have a total of three landmarks.

How to build a successful city in SimCity?
SimCity 4, a city-building simulation game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts in 2003, presents a more challenging and complex process for starting a new city. The game reflects real-life city planners’ problems and concerns, requiring careful planning and strategy. The most important strategy is to build slowly, not rushing to build services like fire departments, water systems, schools, and hospitals. Instead, have patience and wait for stable tax bases before adding these services.
Plant trees, hold off on fire and police departments, and grow healthcare facilities carefully. By following these tips, players can create a successful city that reflects real-life city planning and growth.
How do you get tourism in SimCity?
Tourism cities should have water, rail, and flat land connections to attract tourists. Zone low tourist attractions near trains and high tourist attractions near ferries to reduce road traffic. To ensure successful transportation, offer a mix of inter-city and inner-city transit options. The airships pack, available from the Origin store, is a helpful transit solution for medium and high-income tourists. It doesn’t take up much space and can bring workers from other cities or send them to other cities.
If casinos are closed due to a lack of workers, plopping the commuter airship mooring could be a good spot to accommodate the increased traffic. This will not only benefit tourists but also residents and businesses.

Is there an end to SimCity?
SimCity is a video game franchise designed by Will Wright, published by Maxis in 1989. The series has since been developed independently by Maxis until 1997 and continued under the ownership of Electronic Arts until 2003. SimCity titles are real-time management and construction simulators, with the player acting as mayor given a blank map to expand the city with the provided budget. As the city matures, the player may add government and special buildings, depending on its size. Proper management of the city requires citizens to be provided with basic utilities, public services, and infrastructure. Inadequate funding can lead to strikes or urban decline.
The primary source of income is taxation, but some income can be generated by legalizing gambling or placing special buildings. The player may make deals with neighboring cities to sell or buy services, as long as a connection is made for that service. The game may also face disasters or fictional crises. SimCity titles are predominantly single-player games, with exceptions like the “Network Edition” of SimCity 2000, the Unix port of the original SimCity, and SimCity 2013. SimCity 4 provided a limited form of multiplayer gaming with the ability to share regional maps and cities with other players, allowing players to collaborate but not interact in real-time gameplay.
Can you win SimCity?
SimCity is not a game with a definitive ending. Rather, the objective is to construct an aesthetically pleasing city, regardless of the available resources or the player’s chosen specialization. The objective is to maximize specializations and accumulate a substantial amount of Simoleons. Once the player has successfully created a city, they will come to recognize their proficiency in urban design and may then set their sights on further challenges in this domain.
How do I set up a new city?
Moving to a new city is an opportunity to experience a new place and meet new people. To settle into a new city quickly, it’s essential to say yes to all new opportunities, unpack immediately, explore your new city, find your favorite spots, take care of medical needs, familiarize yourself with local transportation, and join a group or several. Staying up-to-date with the latest news, events, and specials can help you feel more comfortable and acclimated to your new home.
One of the best ways to meet new people, become familiarized with the area, and begin to settle into a new city is to say yes to everything. Being open to new experiences will allow you to meet new people and establish a network of friends. Putting yourself out there from the start will make your new city feel like home faster and allow you to start making new memories.
Saying yes to opportunities and experiences means being bold and introducing yourself to others. If you overhear people your age talking about something that interests you, don’t be afraid to (politely) interject and see if they are okay with you joining the conversation. It can be a great way to quickly meet new people and make friends who share some of your interests.
Always check out flyers or posts about events that you normally wouldn’t go to, as the more you are out of your home and exploring your new city, the better opportunity you have to make new friends. Going to new places is one of the best ways to make friends in a new city.
📹 Building The Department of Transportation | SimCity 2013: Let’s Play | EP 4
Today we build Department of Transportation and our first train station in SimCity. This is to connect my city with BigBlueBug …
Sjin, you might as well accept the challenges for things you are going to do at some point anyway; there’s no time limit or penalty for taking a long time. Also, that power amplifier on your wind farm doubles the output of any wind farm or solar plant it is placed on. I’d say that’s more than a minor increase.
Sjin, your train station is kinda useless and just wasting money, it only allows other Sims from other city’s in your region to visit and you have no other city’s to bring people from! build another city in the region and place a train station down, and use that place as a way to source all of the water, power and garbage collection that you need for this city so you can keep this city’s population high and have room for lots of tourist things.
Sjin please be careful with the mega towers, true they give lots of new citizens but they can easily get out of control and take you to the botom, from what i can see the best option for them is to concentrate on building them in to a one wealth zone (by that i mean only low wealth or only medium wealth or only hight wealth).
