Can You Walk Into Copenhagen From The Cruise Terminal?

Copenhagen can be easily accessed from a cruise ship, depending on the terminal. The Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod cruise terminals are the closest to the city and are about a 10-minute walk from the famous Little Mermaid statue. To walk into the city, take bus 25 or 27 to Oceankaj, which is a short walk from the terminal. Bus 26 serves all terminals to and from several stops in the city center. If the bus is marked Færgehavn Nord, it will take you to Copenhagen’s three cruise terminals: Oceankaj – c331 Terminal 1, c332 Terminal 2, c333c334 Terminal 3, and Terminal 4. Most (turnaround) cruise ships dock here, with four terminal buildings.

To get from Copenhagen Cruise Terminal to the City Centre, disembark at Langelinie Quay just north of the Little Mermaid. Most ships park up at the Ocean Quay. If you are not particularly used to using public transit, taxis are readily available at the port and within the city centre. The port of Copenhagen is in an area called Nordhavnen, and depending on your cruise line and how busy the port is, you may be able to walk off your ship and into the city. The closest dock is a ten-minute walk away from The Little Mermaid (statue) – Wikipedia statue and around half an hour from the famous Nyhavn.

Walking around Copenhagen is easy and a delight due to its pretty city with lots of picturesque squares and cobbled streets. You can take the canal tour from the Nyhavn docks, take a walk through Nyhavn, get a drink, and then load on a cruise ship. Taxis are available 24 hours a day at taxi stands located at Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, and you can pre-book a taxi from Copenhagen Airports. From the pier of Langelinie, it is only a pleasant 30-minute walk to the city center.

Is Copenhagen Metro free?

You can use public transport tickets on all buses, trains and the metro in Copenhagen. Always remember to have a valid ticket with you to avoid getting fined (DKK 750) during ticket inspection.

Adults with a valid ticket or city pass can bring 2 children under the age of 12 free of charge.

Can you walk between terminals at Copenhagen?

The distances are not long, but the airport lacks moving walkways (travelators), so you can walk 15 minutes from one end of the terminal to the other.

The transfer time is always the time on your ticket if you are travelling on one booking. Usually in Copenhagen you can change flights in about 30 minutes.

• Schengen – Schengen: you do not go through any checks. You exit the plane directly to the departure area, where you just need to find the gate number of the connecting flight on the board.
• Schengen – Non-Schengen: you only go through passport control. You will again exit the aircraft directly to the departure area, expect the connecting flight from gates C, D or F.
• Non-Schengen – any flight: no matter where you continue on to, you always have to go through a special transit security check where there are not too long queues. You also go through passport control in all cases.

Can I go ashore from a cruise ship?

Disembarkingwhen your ship’s at anchor is a very different experience to when it’s docked portside. Getting ashore in this instance often involves the use of the ship’s tender, which is accessed via the steps of a secure gangway.

How far is cruise terminal from Copenhagen Centre?

You can easily reach the pier and city centre by taxi or local bus (#26). Osterport is the closest rail station.

International flights arrive at Kastrup Airport CPH, which is located about 6 miles or 9 km from the city center. The airport is the hub for Scandinavia’s largest international carrier SAS — Scandinavian Airlines.

You can catch a train from Kobenhavns Lufthavn, Kastrup Station to the city centre. You can also take the Metro which takes you also to the city center.

Are taxis in Copenhagen expensive?

They are licensed by the authorities, and you usually won’t have any problems with scams or tricks. Generally, all drivers also speak English. A Copenhagen cab from the airport to the city centre would cost between €34 to €47. A private transfer however could cost significantly more.

Can you walk from cruise ship to Copenhagen?

The easiest way to get around via public transportation in Copenhagen is by using the commuter rail or metro system. Both of these offer fast, regular service all around the city. There are a variety of ticket options depending on your needs, including single-use tickets and 24-hour tickets that cover multiple zones. Walking is also a great way to get around the city, since the main sights are located right within the city center or just a short distance outside it.

For a more customized service, hiring a taxi is an easy way to go since there are more than 1,700 government-licensed taxis that service the Copenhagen area, and many of the drivers speak English. Most taxis will accept credit cards, but double check before entering the cab. Expect an increase in fare prices during the evening hours or if visiting on a holiday.

Is Copenhagen a walkable city?

Copenhagen, being flat, built around waterways and with a compact downtown area, is a very walkable city – and most points of interest are within easy reach of City Hall Square and Central Station, where the tourist office is situated (4 Vesterbrogade; winter opening hours 9am-5pm, 9am-4pm on Saturday, closed Sundays).
