Can You Snorkel Off Beach At Westin Grand Cayman?

The Westins beach offers excellent snorkeling opportunities, with a small patch reef within easy walking distance from the Westin hotel. The Gamma shipwreck can be found from the shore via a public beach access on West Bay Road north of George Town. The Westin Hotel is centrally located on the beach and offers ample water activities and paddle boards.

On Seven Mile Beach, the main snorkeling area is at the north end of Seven Mile Beach at Cemetery Reef, which is about 300ft offshore but often in less than 10ft of water. There are several great spots for snorkeling near the Westin beach, such as Governors Reef and Cemetery Beach. Grand Cayman is famous for diving and snorkeling, and many guests have found amazing spots from the shore.

The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort Spa is a beachfront Cayman Islands hotel that offers ocean activities, a sparkling pool, and rental equipment from Red Sail Sports. Most areas along Seven Mile Beach don’t have good snorkeling due to the lack of coral or fish directly off-shore. However, the resort has one outdoor pool on-site for hotel guests, and guests can enjoy other recreational amenities such as a private beach or an outdoor pool and spa tub.

In summary, the Westins beach offers excellent snorkeling opportunities, with some great spots nearby, such as Governors Reef and Cemetery Reef.

  • Be aware that Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease has hit Grand Cayman hard. There’s a lot of bleaching coral in this article, but you need to know what you’re seeing to realize it. If you snorkel at more than one location, wash your gear in between. Bleach your gear if you’re moving on to Little Cayman or Cayman Brac. Tough news, but don’t make things worse!
