Can You Snorkel At Queens Bath?

Queen Emmas Bath, located on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, is a series of connected tide pools protected from waves by ancient lava flows. The crystal clear water allows visitors to see 10 feet straight down to the tidal pool reef fish. The tidal pools are calm and crystal clear, making them an excellent snorkeling spot.

During spring summer months, visitors can climb the flows to the west and enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean crashing against these lava rock formations. Anini, another popular spot for snorkeling, is not as bad when the surf is high due to the outer reef. However, it is not recommended to snorkel in or enter Turtle Coves water, as it is never safe to swim there.

The vast array of life found beneath these pools makes it a great spot for snorkeling or even scuba diving if you’re feeling brave enough. Fins are not needed while swimming in the pool, and snorkeling gear can be rented on the island or purchased online. Queens Pond is not open to the ocean, nor does the ocean wash into it, so bring your bathing suit if the pond exists.

Once you arrive at Queens Bath, there are several tide pools to check out. When the waves are less than 4ft tall, you can scale down the rocks to swim in the waters but be aware that Tunnels Beach offers the best snorkeling on Kauai. Kee Beach is also a favorite spot on Kauai.
