Can You Put A Kayak On A Honda Civic?

The Honda Civic is a small car that can be used to carry a kayak, but it requires specific roof racks to ensure performance and aesthetics. Some kayak racks are made for kayak hauling, while others are cheap pull noodles. The Civic was not meant for this purpose, but many dirt cheap CUVs and crossovers come with roof racks and cross bars that can fit kayak racks on.

One option is the Thule Roof Rack, which consists of the Thule WingBar Load Bars – Aluminum – Black – 53 – Qty. Another option is the Yakima or Thule brand, which is recommended for its quality and durability. However, there is a requirement to measure the pass-through using a tape measure or similar device.

There are many dirt cheap CUVs and crossovers that come with roof racks and cross bars that can fit kayak racks on. For example, a 2-door Civic coupe can use Yakima Q-towers with a kayak stacker, mounted as far apart as possible so the bars remain flat. 13 or 14 foot will work just fine.

To add storage capacity to your vehicle, consider using canoe carriers and kayak racks designed to fit your Honda Civic. Some shops have demos available, and some customers have found their favorite straps to be too loud for over 40 miles at speed. Overall, adding storage capacity to your vehicle with canoe carriers and kayak racks designed to fit your Honda Civic is a great way to enjoy the benefits of kayaking on a small car.

  • I love that you’re rocking it relatively minimalist in a tiny car. I’ve been solo camping many times, including multi-week bike camping trips. Despite what they tell ya, you don’t need all the bells and whistles. (Some of us can’t afford that stuff anyway!) In my travels, sooooo many dudes were worried about me, telling me I needed a knife or gun to “protect” myself. I see you’re getting the same response, hah. At any rate, I’ve found nothing but the kindest souls in my travels, and being able to move through the beauty of this country’s wild places and take care o’ business by your lonesome is 🤘! Thanks for your inspiring articles as always.

  • My daughter and I love your articles. We / I just bought a fishing kayak and are going to be trying it out soon. I wish more information and groups were available to learn ocean kayak fishing! Your commentaries are great. I did notice your morning coffee selection was lacking :). If you want me to send you a bag of fresh roasted or my instant I will … it will help your early wake ups. Thank you for doing these articles… as a newbie myself it’s cool to see others do it also.

  • Looked like a fun trip. I camped alone once with my dog, and yep..he was alert to all sorts of things that I couldn’t necessarily hear.. It made me a littl nervous at times..lol I don’t have a dog anymore, but since then I bought a 9mm S&W shield pistol that makes me feel safe and I sleep well at night.
