Can Minors Go On A Cruise Alone?

Guests must be 21 years old on embarkation day to travel independently. Infants sailing on a cruise must be at least 6 months old as of the first day of the cruise and or CruiseTour. However, select South Minors under 16 can go ashore without adult supervision provided parents and guardians inform the ships security officer of their decision. Infants must be at least 12 months old at the time of embarkation to sail on transatlantic cruises, World Cruises, cruises of 15 days or longer duration, and any other itinerary.

Violen Voyages, PO Cruises, and Marella Cruises allow passengers over 18 years old to cruise independently. A stateroom alone must be reserved by a traveler at least 18 or 21 years old, depending on the cruise line. Infants as young as six months old are permitted on a few family minimum age to sail and cruise alone. Carnival Cruise Line allows infants scheduled to cruise with their parents to be at least 6 months old on most sailings. On trans-ocean voyages or those to remote locations with more than two consecutive sea days, infants must be at least 12 months old.

For guests under 21 years of age, they must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone who is at least 25 years old. Parents, guardians, and chaperones are responsible for overseeing the onboard conduct of minors. Disney Cruise Line security guidelines require children under the age of 18 to be accompanied by an adult Guest traveling in the same stateroom. For all Shore Excursions at Perfect Day at CocoCay (except Thrill Waterpark and the Certified Dive), all guests under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
