Can I Wakeboard In Haystack Reservoir?

Haystack Reservoir is a large, clean, and clear reservoir located 8 miles south of Madras, Oregon, just 2 miles off HWY 97. It is known for boating and fishing, with the area encompassing 271 acres of land and 233 acres of water surface, with 5 miles of shoreline. The reservoir is home to various species such as largemouth bass and crappie, and its terrain is typical of high desert landscapes.

Campgrounds at Haystack Reservoir Campground (East Shore) can cost between $50.00 and $75.00 depending on the site. The main catch is rainbow and brown trout, and the lake is open year-round for fishing. However, it often freezes over in winter due to thin ice.

The campground offers boat rentals and watercraft service companies, including boat rentals, jet ski rentals, guided water sport lessons, and tours. The North Shore day-use area has a beautiful fishing pier with beautiful views, and firewood and ice are sold by the camp.

The campground is the premier in the scenic high desert of the Crooked River National Grassland, offering amenities to visitors. Wakeboard boats can be launched from four public wakeboard ramps, including one near Oregon State Route 22.
