The US government shutdown has raised concerns about aviation safety, security, passports, and the impact of the Trump administration’s travel ban on Muslim-majority countries. Starting Monday, fully vaccinated international visitors can enter the country by air or across land borders with Canada. President-elect Biden plans to end the ban on Muslim-majority countries on Day 1, but immigrant advocates argue that the lasting effects are significant.
International passengers arrived at Washington Dulles International Airport after the U.S. Supreme Court granted parts of the Trump administration’s emergency. Biden stated that Trump only “shut down” travel from China at the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic “late, after 40 countries had already done that”. On January 20, 2021, newly inaugurated president Joe Biden issued a proclamation revoking the Trump travel bans, with the exception of the reverse travel ban.
The Biden administration has issued new warnings that a government shutdown could disrupt the nation’s air travel system. Trump’s government efficiency commission proposal follows a recent conversation with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on X, during which he suggested that Trump should consider a government efficiency commission.
On Friday, President Trump banned any member of Congress from using government planes to travel while a federal shutdown remains in effect. Under no circumstances during a government shutdown will any government-owned, rented, leased, or chartered aircraft support any Congressional travel. TSA agents are not getting paid and are calling in sick, leading to delays.

If you are going to take a flight today, aren’t you happy that the people in charge of you safety while you are high in the air are being forced to work without pay? I bet their full concentration is not on their jobs while they are worried about paying their bills. Would your work performance drop if you were forced to work without pay?
Someone please explain to me how you can sue the executive branch (President Trump) when there has NOT even been a budget passed for him to veto? Regardless of what side is right or wrong(Republicans/ Democrats), CONGRESS needs to either pass a budget that Trump will sign or one that has enough votes to override a veto! CONGRESS has been jerking the country around for over 30years on the issue of immigration and the blame is squarely on them!
I have a family member who is an air traffic controller who has made fun of me and been mean to me. I just love it now when they always acted so invisible and cocky because of their an air traffic controller, Now whos laughing now that he isn’t getting paid. Well, you shouldn’t make fun of that less forunate because sooner or later you will experience financial hardships! Now they are reaping what they are sowing! They should suffer for the way they made me suffer!
They are right to sue. It isn’t right for any American to work without pay involuntarily. Yes they are essential to safety & commerce which is why Congress should pass legislation that such workers can never go without pay even in a shutdown. Honestly legislation should be enacted to prevent government shutdowns completely.
Has anyone heard from Paul Ryan after he sleazed out of the White House to go to a public life because he will never ever be elected for president like he wish he could’ve not after serving under this president. Paul you may as well go back into the private work force . Oh and I hope you’re not affected by the government shut down and get a zero paycheck.
It must be SO hard for them without the average pay check man they might actually realize what they have for once I can’t think of any examples of people in desperate need of money and don’t have a place to live or electricity or water or food. Yes getting middle class people there Money is totally a urgent problem
