Guests must be 21 years old on embarkation day to travel on their own. Guest ages will be verified at embarkation, and non-compliance will result in denied boarding and no compensation. Adults who are not the parent or legal guardian of a minor traveling with them must present an original, notarized letter signed by the child’s parent(s) authorizing the adult to take the required ID for kids.
For Carnival Cruise Line, babies must be at least 6 months old by the first day of the cruise or tour. However, exceptions exist for select South America cruises. On all cruises and cruise journeys, minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied and share a cabin with a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible adult over the age of 21. When traveling with a minor where one parent or both parents or legal guardians are not cruising, it is strongly recommended to bring an original signed letter from the child’s parent(s).
The Royals international age policy for sailing unaccompanied from the US is 21 years old, except for those sailing with parents or children. Disney Cruises allows guests to sail alone at age 18, but Disney Cruises does not allow minors to sail alone at age 17. When a minor (age 17 and under) travels without their legal guardian, an accompanying adult must present a notarized form signed by the child’s guardian.
