Disney Cruise Line ships offer at least three different guest pools and a kids water play area, catering to various age groups. Hot tubs or jacuzzis are available on the main pool decks of every ship, as well as near the adult areas. The heated pools on Disney Cruise Line ships are typically between 80 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit, making them comfortable for most guests. The family-friendly all-ages main pools on Disney ships include Donald’s Pool (Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy), Goofy’s Pool (Disney Magic), and Mickey’s Pool (Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wonder) for ages 3 and older. Whirlpool spa tubs are available on all ships, with adult supervision required for guests under 16.
Cruise ships can have anywhere from 6-12 heated pools, with the best choices being Disney, Norwegian, Princess, and certain P and O or MSC ships. For winter cruises, the best choices are Disney, Norwegian, Princess, and certain P and O or MSC ships.
The pools on Disney Cruise Line are heated when the outside temperature drops below 75 degrees, ensuring a comfortable swim. Even on Alaskan cruises, swimming is an option, as the pools are heated when the outside temperature drops below 75°F. If you have a spa pass, the showers and locker rooms are a solid option. Activities you choose depend on your personal preferences, and hot tubs are available if 75 degrees doesn’t sound warm enough.
The Quiet Cove Pool is also available, but slides during the colder months may not be heated.

What does Disney use in their pools?
Currently most of the Disney Resort hotel pools and water parks use bromine rather than chlorine to keep the water clean. My children are much more tolerant of bromine and can extend their splash time when playing in pools that use bromine to sanitize the water.
Welcome to planDisney and thank you for stopping by with your question! As a Mom of four quite fair children with sensitive skin, I appreciate the nature of your question. Although none of my children have a true allergy to chlorine, they do have sensitivity to it and we take care when we are planning our pool outings.
Currently most of theDisney Resort hotelpools and water parks use bromine rather than chlorine to keep the water clean. My children are much more tolerant of bromine and can extend their splash time when playing in pools that use bromine to sanitize the water. Additionally, there are two pools which feature a saltwater filtration system, which is more of a natural chlorination process, to clean the water.Stormalong Bay, which is shared by Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, utilizes this type of system and has been called by children “a mini water park”.The Big Blue Poolat Disney’s Art of Animation Resort also features a saltwater filtration system and is the largest Disney Resort hotel pool. My family can “Just keep swimming” for hours at this pool and we once extended our trip by an extra day just to stay and enjoy this lovely location.
As we Return to a World of Magic, please keep in mind some amenities will have a phased reopening. I suggest checking TheDisney Parks Blogfrequently for the latest information for all the Disney Parks and your daily dose of Magic.
Are the pools crowded on Disney cruise?
I’ve sailed on the Disney Magic, the Disney Wonder, and the Disney Dream. The pools are set up differently on each ship, but the common denominator is that they’re all smaller than I expected them to be.
If more than a few people are swimming in these pools, I think they feel very crowded. So, my family doesn’t usually swim at the pools on deck, especially if our cruise is scheduled to stop at a warm-weather beach destination.
Unless you’re in the ship’s adults-only area, expect the hot tubs to be full of kids, too.
Are there fridges in Disney cruise ships?
I’m happy to report that yes, there are refrigerators in the staterooms on the Disney Dream. In fact, there are refrigerators in every stateroom on every Disney cruise ship in the fleet! These stateroom standards are a nice size for keeping medicine, water, wine, beer, soda, or room service leftovers fresh during your sailing. Please know there is not a freezer component inside, but it’s a good-sized refrigerator tucked away for your use.
Be sure to pack a refillable bottle for everyone in your travel party, as you can fill these up on the pool deck with a variety of hot or cold beverages for use around the ship. My husband keeps our metal bottles in the fridge overnight to pre-chill the inside, ensuring our ice water stays frosty on a beautiful beach day. Did you know you can bring your own wine or beer onboard? Please see this answer I recently shared with a Guest regarding the many options for alcohol and other beverages onboard.
Room service is complimentary onboard, Karen! If you find you need just a smakeral of something sweet at night, you now know you have space to save the leftovers for tomorrow. My panel pal Adrianna shared there is a secret cake of the day through room service – half a slice from the fridge sounds like the perfect cruise breakfast!
Is the water safe to drink on a Disney cruise ship?
It sounds like you’ve heard some of my top tips for making the most of your cruise! I always bring a refillable water bottle with me. It’s good for the environment and you. You will be happy to know that the water available at the Beverage Stations and the casual dining venues, such as Cabanas and Marceline Market is filtered. The water served in the Rotational Dining venues and other areas of the ship are also filtered. Be sure to stop by Mickey’s Mainsail during your cruise to check out the new Disney Cruise Line water bottles. I love to purchase these to add a touch of vacation to my days back home.
One of my favorite places on a Disney ship is Cove Café, so I’m glad you have it on your radar! This adult-exclusive oasis offers a variety of beverages, from breakfast to late-night cocktails. While the beverages are available for an additional charge, many Guests don’t realize that the pastries and baked goods in the morning and the savory snacks in the evening are complimentary! So, order your favorite specialty beverage and enjoy a little snack while you are there.
And here’s an extra tip: Depending on the ship you are sailing, you will find the same offerings at Vista Café overlooking the main atrium. While it isn’t as serene as Cove Café, it is a great spot to take in all the action.
What is the indoor temperature on a cruise ship?
Ambient temperature on the vessels ranges between 18 – 20°C (64 – 68°F) in public areas, while cabin temperatures may be adjusted according to your preference.

Yes, for your safety, we ask that Guests with children understand the age and height requirements for all the pools on board. Please note that swim diapers are prohibited in all pools but are required as indicated in splash play areas.
Are the pools heated on Disney cruises?
For your comfort, pools are heated to keep the water temperature at least 75 degrees.
Does Disney heat their pools?
Yes, year round. What is the water temperature like? The pools are heated throughout the year to a uniform 82 degrees Fahrenheit. You can swim in warm water even when the outdoor temperature is chiiiilly.
While the theme park attractions may be the reason that people come to Walt Disney World, often the reason they stay at Walt Disney World is the hotel pool. All of the Disney World hotels have at least one, if not several, pools on site, many of which have elaborate themeing, kiddie play zones, or other enticements that can make a day at the resort just as fun as a day at the parks.
What’s the overall pool situation like at the Disney World resorts?
While all Disney hotels have pools, there is a great deal of variation between the resorts in the size, atmosphere, and amenities of the pools at each location. The pools range from basic water-in-the-ground (albeit with colorful themed elements) at the All Star Resorts, to a de facto mini water park, with multiple slides, sandy play areas, and a lazy river at the Yacht & Beach Clubs.

Are Disney Cruise pools chlorine?
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Oh, it is so exciting to think about lazing away at Donald’s Pool on the Disney Dream! That particular pool is one of our favorites to soak in while watching a movie on the huge Funnel Vision screen. At Disney Cruise Line, all of the ships have fresh water pools (chlorine) that are gentle to the skin and does not burn the eyes. The pools are meticulously cleaned and the water is kept in excellent condition for cruisers onboard. I hope you will be able to enjoy yourself on the Dream soon, Scott, and thanks for stopping by!
Is it cold inside Disney cruise ship?
In the main dining restaurants, the temperature is usually very comfortable. Quite often I’ve worn a dress and not needed a sweater or jacket with it. But, I usually have one with me just in case, because there have been times when I’ve needed it.
In the evenings on deck and all day on sea days, you’ll find there is a cool breeze, so it’s nice to be prepared for that with a light jacket or sweater. If you’re sailing in the warmer months, you might find you don’t need it at all! My advice is to bring a couple sweaters or a light jacket. They won’t take up that much space in your luggage, and it’s best to be prepared. If it will make you more comfortable, you’ll enjoy your cruise with Disney that much more!
I hope that helps, Robyn! Let me know if you have any further questions as you plan your cruise!
