I would book Non refundable because we are self employed and can take the time off we would need for the cruise we book .. also id never change the cruise ship last min, so no need for the refundable. but i love that everyone has the option for that .. Thank you for the article Matt really love all your informative articles !
We have had good luck with non refundable rooms except once. We did end up moving it to a less expensive time of year on the same ship so we still paid less and the change fee was within $20 per person of the refundable fare so it wasn’t too bad. I will consider refundable fares more seriously in the future though due to that experience.
I booked a nonrefundable fare not fully understanding the penalties of three were changes to the booking. I was totally focused on the price difference. Did I ever learn an expensive lesson. I had to change the sailing date, the number of people in the group and it cost me $800. I will never book a nonrefundable cruise again. Even in extenuating circumstances, Royal Caribbean won’t give an inch. At the end of the day I can only blame myself for not asking better questions during the future cruise booking process.
The refundable and non refundable cruise fare is nothing but a scam for Royal Caribbean to rip you off and I’m a loyal customer and a diamond member I think that this is ridiculous that’s what insurance is for I have no problem if it was after final payment but any time before final payment your money should be fully refundable period
I will never book with Royal Caribbean again. I wanted to rebook the cruise just for ONE week later a few months ago & they wouldn’t let me without a penalty. This week I’m having a final exam in my class and I need this week to study. I have 4 assignments due this week! But oh no Royal Caribbean will not let me cancel & rebook the cruise for February 2020 even though I paid for the vacation protection plan. I’ve booked & canceled cruises on Carnival all the time with no issues. This is my first cruise with Royal Caribbean & this will be my LAST! Also Royal Caribbean nickel & dime for Everything. I’ve would’ve been better off booking a cruise with Disney. Thanks a lot Royal Caribbean for nothing! Now I’m forced to go on a cruise on Dec 6th & I’m going to be super STRESSED this week. I doubt I will enjoy myself! I’m going make sure I write a BAD REVIEW for this cruise line!
