Are Momondo And Kayak The Same?

Momondo and Kayak are two popular travel search engines that offer a user-friendly interface and a simple homepage and search box. Both sites are owned by the same company, Booking Holdings Inc. Momondo is a travel fare aggregator and travel fare metasearch engine, founded in Denmark and managed by KAYAK. It follows Cheapflights and Kayak, which tied for second place after finding the joint lowest price in eight of the searches. Google Flights was the bottom of the pack.

Momondo’s cheap flights finder is more efficient at finding cheap flights than individually searching Skyscanner. Kayak, Momondo, and Kayak listed 62 for that same flight through eDreams. Then the Momondo prices jumped to 137 and higher, still on Spirit through kiwi.com. The Priceline Group is acquiring the Momondo Group and KAYAK will assume leadership of the momondo and Kayak brands.

The top 10 airfare search sites include Momondo.com, which ranks 49 in the Travel and Tourism – Other category, and Kayak.com, which is 974 for the same category. Momondo has a user-friendly interface with a simple homepage and search box, and its standout feature is the visually appealing feature. Kayak, Momondo, and Skyscanner are most of the time cheaper than Google Flights. The free Chrome extension Flight Fare Compare converts flight prices between these two search engines.

Who bought momondo?

The two sides had been unable to meet until regulators approved parent company Priceline Group’s acquisition of UK-based Momondo for about $550 million. Watchdogs approved the deal late last week. The UK-based company will become part of the Kayak operation, which the Priceline Group acquired in 2013 for $1.8 billion.

It’s a meeting of rivals who are suddenly now on the same side. The product teams of Kayak and Momondo, two long-time price-comparison search services, are meeting for the first time on Monday.

There’s a notable absence at the meeting, though. The biggest immediate change is that longtime Momondo Group CEO Hugo Burge stepped down Monday morning. In a comment on Twitter, he says: “I’m rooting for our team, now part of Kayak, to carry on the fight for better travel search.”

Is Kayak a reputable company?

Kayak is just as reliable as other travel search engines, so there’s no need to wonder, “can I trust Kayak?” In reality, it can often be more reliable than third-party booking sites since its users are driven to individual travel providers for booking. This act of booking directly often means you’ll have access to better customer service in case your plans change, you have to adjust your travel schedule or you want to update a booking. Since Kayak isn’t a booking platform, their customer service can’t help with those issues.

Do be aware that price fluctuations are a possibility. Occasionally, you may conduct a search that reveals one price, then, when you select “View deal” and are taken to the booking page of another website, you could see a price change alert and a slightly different deal than was just listed on Kayak.

Likewise, it’s not a bad idea if you book a hotel using one of the third-party sites listed to call and confirm your reservation as sometimes third-party bookings can get lost in the shuffle. And keep in mind that if you’re hoping to earn points for your stay, the easiest way to do so is to book directly with the provider.

Which is better momondo or skyscanner?

Momondo was found to be the cheapest, offering the lowest fares for all 10 journeys, while popular comparison platform Skyscanner was matched or beaten by its fellow online aggregators for every flight.

It followed Cheapflights and Kayak, which tied for second place after finding the joint lowest price in eight of the searches.

Although all comparison sites are trawling the same airlines and travel companies to offer a range of options, the price discrepancy between flights was at times stark.
