Elise MacGregor, a professional windsurfer and member of the Monterey Bay Pipe Band, has been honored to perform as the Phantom Piper atop the historic Kincardine Lighthouse. Born into Clan MacGregor, she grew up enjoying the weekly summer parades of Eastern Canada’s 100-year-old Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band. She played flute in her middle school marching band and fell in love with folk music at Yosemites first Strawberry Music Festival.
Elise has a BA Hons degree in Adventure Performance and Coaching and has been honored to perform as the Phantom Piper atop the historic Kincardine Lighthouse. She has experience performing at funerals, weddings, black-tie whiskey tastings, corporate parties, military ceremonies, and birthday parties. She has also played flute in her middle school marching band and fell in love with folk music at Yosemites first Strawberry Music Festival.
The U.S. Cellular U.S. Open Windsurfing Regatta draws top professional and amateur sailors from across the nation and around the world. Competing in several events, Elise has demonstrated her ability to navigate 20 knots in a 15 knot wind using GPS technology.
John Forbes Kerry, an American attorney, politician, and diplomat who served as the 68th United States secretary of state from 2013, is known for his contributions to the sport. Elise’s performance and the work she put into it were appreciated by many, including John Forbes, who had lost his closest friend, Fuego, and who had lost her own windsurfer instead of a check.
