Will Ford Resume Producing Expedition Vehicles?

The Ford Excursion, a heavy-duty SUV produced between 2000 and 2005, was the longest and heaviest SUV ever. It was the longest and heaviest SUV ever at the time of its introduction. Speculation has been flying around about the 2024 Ford Excursion production years, with Ford preparing to bring back the old name. Ford recently filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and plans to redesign Tours with a new engine and architecture. The Excursion is expected to become an instant hit in the SUV segment, offering a new, improved option for families with demanding transportation needs.

The Ford Excursion was effectively replaced after 2005 by the long-wheelbase version of the Ford Expedition, which shares its underpinnings with the light-duty F-150. The Expedition will have a new trim called Excursion starting for the 2025 model, with beefier options for more towing capacity. The name may be used again, but the original concept of the Excursion is not going to be resurrected. If Ford does bring the Excursion back, they may ruin it in the market.

The Ford Excursion is considered the iconic gas-eating mom SUV of the century, and speculation suggests that Ford may trademark “Excursion” possibly for the return of its big SUV. By bringing back the Excursion, Ford could cater to the niche market and offer a new, improved option for families with demanding transportation needs.

  • This is the second time one of your articles really saved my butt. A few times in the last couple weeks I couldn’t get the truck in park and it actually rolled on me. It happened to me this afternoon and me being lazy didn’t do anything about it. I pulled into my driveway and it completely felt like something broke and I couldn’t get the truck in park. Looked up your article went underneath and saw both bolts were loose and one on the bottom the head broke off. Before I looked at your article I thought to myself great now I need a tow and I’m going to probably miss some work tomorrow morning. But a quick trip to tractor supply got the right bolt and I’m back on the road. Thanks again man keep up the good work.

  • Thank you for posting this article! I had a no start issue with no crank and after checking the starter fuse, I checked the l-bracket for the shifter lever and sure enough, the two t-30 torx bolts were loose. I tightened them up and it started right up along with the lever feeling way more solid. Thank you!!!

  • Wow thank you so much 😊 happened for first time today after got off work where didn’t crank in park I check my battery voltage then thought maybe the key assembly actuator or whatever’s it called then luckily thought to try in neutral an it started fine and was able to drive home but now I have an idea what to check I’ll know soon

  • I have a 1993 Lincoln town car and did this exact fix the screws were loose and only had to take the first panel off it was easy to do . Thank you so much the car shifts great and no more playing to start .i took one at a time and put lock tight and reassemble it big expensive repair Ina garage thanks again ps use a 30 star. On at least a 9 in extension you need room for two hands

  • hi mate looks like you are really good mechanic! I have a excursion 7.3 and the parking lights still ON after stopping engine!! and a couples days ago the left turn light it’s doesn’t work!! and when I moved the steering wheel column up! the flashlight working! but the parking lights still on after stopping engine!! anybody can help me for fixing this caind of problems? thanks fellas thanks for this great vedeos!! cheers from Norway

  • Is there a similar issue with 2006 F150 5.4l 3v Triton? I have same occasional no start in park problem. Sometimes shifting into neutral works, sometimes not. Just have to play around with shift lever or rocking car until it decides to start. I looked under dash, but don’t see exactly the same view as your excellent article. Is it time to replace the neutral safety switch?

  • Great article. I’ve got a 2002 Sport Trac. Had the same issue except won’t start in Neutral or Park. Messed with linkage a few times then, it started. Replaced the neutral safety switch then it was fine until recently and back to the same problem. I haven’t checked these bolts yet but, if the bolts are tight any idea what else it may be? Thanks in advance.

  • I have a 1996 Ford Aerostar with 3.0 engine that won’t start. No crank, no 12 volts on the signal wire at the fender mount solenoid. My gear selector indicator is broken. I have 12.62 volts on the battery, clean connections. Got a used Solenoid from the salvage yard installed it on the weekend because the other one was kind of weak when I tested it. The clicks were weak and no clicks at all times, I don’t have schematics for this vehicle, can you point me in the right direction, thank you for your expertise.

  • Ok what if like on my 01 F150 those two bolts have stripped out and broken off the housing where bolts thread into to hold L shaped bracket in place?? How can I rig something up to start truck? I can shift it in and out of gear by hand by pulling linkage cable that’s not a problem! I just need to start the truck!! H E L P!!
