The 55-meter luxury yacht, THALASSA, is owned by Australian beef baron Trevor Lee and his wife Keri Craig-Lee. The yacht, originally known as the MY Keri Lee III, was built in 2001 and has a cruising speed of 12.5 knots. The owners, Trevor Lee and Keri Craig-Lee, sued Below Deck Down Under for over 9 million in damages made to their yacht. The Thalassa serves as the superyacht background for the show.
The show’s latest spin-off series follows the cast and crew of the luxury yacht Thalassa as they travel the tropical Whitsunday Islands and world-famous Great Barrier Reef. Hiring a Below Deck yacht costs from €140,000 per week, which does not include fuel expenses. Some of the yachts were given an alias during filming, but their real names remain the same.
The show’s first season, Keri Lee III (Down Under Season 1), featured the show’s main characters on camera. In early 2022, Australia viewers got their own spin-off, Below Deck Down Under, which showcased the country’s yachts. The yacht, a 27-meter luxury motor super yacht, was built in 2000 and refitted in 2009. It can accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 cabins (1 Master, 3 Double 1, and 2 Master).
During Napier-Martins’ ownership, the yacht was sailed by John Illingworth, the most famous sailor of his time and the founder of modern ocean racing. Viewers in Australia also got their own spin-off, Below Deck Down Under, in early 2022.
