Azzam, the world’s longest privately owned yacht, was commissioned by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the former president of the United Arab Emirates. The yacht is listed for charter without a price, but according to Motor Boat Yacht magazine, it is not available for charter. The Azzam, built in Germany by Lürssen Yachts, is the flagship of Lurssen and has a top speed of 31.5 kn. It can accommodate up to 36 guests in 18 and was delivered in 2013 at Lürssen shipyard in Bremman, Germany.
Designed by Nauta Yachts and meticulously constructed by Lürssen Yachts under the personal guidance of Engineer Mubarak Saad al Ahbabi, Azzam is the largest yacht in the world. Built in 2013, it has a total length of 180.65 meters and was launched on 5 April 2013. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the late President of the United Arab Emirates, was the original owner of Azzam, which holds the title of the world’s longest privately owned yacht.
The yacht’s size was never the ultimate goal for Azzam’s owner, Nauta Design, who aimed to create a sleek vessel. The yacht was built by Lürssen Yachts from Germany, who delivered the Azzam in 2013. The yacht’s annual running cost was between $50-75 million.
