Octopus, a 126-meter (413 ft) megayacht built for Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, is one of the world’s largest yachts. Launched in 2003 at a cost of $200 million, Octopus has been loaned out for exploration projects, scientific research, and rescue missions. Built by German shipyard Nobiskrug, Octopus was first delivered to telecom executive Craig McCaw in 2000. Just one year later, Allen snapped up the steel-hulled vessel. The 414-foot superyacht, which had been listed for about $278 million, has been sold to an unnamed buyer. The boat, named Octopus, had been listed for about $278 million. Paul Ryan, a former Microsoft co-founder and billionaire, is from Tipperary and currently works as an engineer on a wind farm in Co. Donegal. He took up a position in his family business in Antigua Motors Limited as a sales person. The wealth derived from Janna’s grandfather, Reuel Winfred Little, a self-made artist, is now being sold to an undisclosed buyer. Paul Ryan and his crew of Paul Ryan and Barry O’Mahoney took their moss-covered Sonar boat out of storage three weeks ago. The boats represent personal freedom, escaping from regulation, and a sense of belonging.
