  • one of my dad’s buddies had to eject at 650 knots at like 6 thousand feet. he lost 4,500 as he ejected, and 5,000 when the parachute pulled. from what i heard from him, his left shoulder was dislocated, something happened to his knee and many other bad things happened. moral: never eat cereal with water

  • i hate how the sonic booms get in the way of the music. what an absolutely amazing song. i turned off the screen in the end and spent probably 17 hours just listening to it over and over again. Then i decided to put a speaker out front to let all the neighbours hear, and we had all been dancing for maybe another 3 hours until all the people from the next town showed up with a bigger speaker…. so now, a few more hours later, i am among thousands of people that are all dancing to this amazing song, it should be played over every article until the end of time. thank you Top Fives.   • That “visual aspect” has nothing to do with a sonic boom or super sonic flight at all, it’s based off the wake of the air craft and dependent on the conditions in the area such as humidity, temperature and pressure, that can occur during subsonic flight as well, it’s also very common during transonic flight

  • The comment that you didn’t ask for but still might blow your mind: Understanding this phenomenon makes it easier to understand that whenever astrologists watch the universe through a telescope, you’re actually seeing the history, not it’s current state. It’s light that was sent out million of years ago. Even light from the sun takes 7 minutes to reach us. Because of the ever expanding universe, the speed of us and other objects in the universe might be travelling away from each other faster than the speed of light, so we might never see the current state of the universe. 🙂

  • The condensation trail behind the jet is not them breaking the sound barrier. Notice how hardly any of the jet that displays it broke the barrier with a boom? A sonic boom is not visible other than ripples in the atmosphere as seen with rockets. A vapor cone (also known as a Mach diamond, shock collar, or shock egg) is a visible cloud of condensed water that can sometimes form around an object moving at high speed through moist air, for example, an aircraft flying at transonic speeds.

  • The speed of sound varies depending on the medium through which it is traveling so earth’s atmosphere has a specific resonate frequency for all sound waves due to the particle density of its medium water, rock, space ect. Thus sound can resonate time itself because sound holds its own gravitational waves depending on the medium in which its traveling in and the frequency in which it traveling at thus technically traveling through time itself the pairing with light frequency waves makes for an interesting discussion on reality and illusion

  • It’s fun to look it now but it certainly wasn’t when we were kids hearing this during Iran/Iraq war. Both sides were doing this over major cities to create chaos and fear. Sometimes it’d be so loud that the shockwave would shatter the glass. Many died, went blind …etc…because of this sonic boom effect .   • Misinformation. A vapor cone is condensed water and happens at speeds well under Mach 1. It’s not a sonic boom cloud.🤦🏻‍♀️ According to FAA regulations, jets flying in air shows are prohibited from flying at Mach 1 because it’s illegal over land! The only recent allowance made to the rule was during the 9/11 attacks: USAF jets flew supersonic across the country. Accurate facts are necessary.

  • Comments make me laugh hehe! Sonic booms are heard and d not sound like music unless one is so passionate about it that, it will seem like music to his/her ears… BTW sonic booms are NOT seen with the naked eye. What one is seeing is the compression of the water molecules in the air that condensate and are thus seen and most often mistaken for the sonic boom itself.

  • Not one of these articles shows an actual sonic boom of any kind. It has been unlawful to exceed the speed of sound over the continental USA (or within a certain number of miles off the coast) for dozens of decades. It takes Presidential authorization to do so. What you are seeing are vapor cones due to humidity and pressure, while flying at transonic speed which is the fastest they can legally fly here. That was not breaking the sound barrier. If it had, every person standing there with no hearing protection on (hundreds of them btw) would all be permanently deaf, plus lots of physical bodily damage from the pressure wave would have hospitalized them and killed most of them, and thousands of windows in cars and buildings would have blown out and buildings would have collapsed People need to learn some actual science. Even our military breaking the speed of sound is incredibly rare and only happens in wars, with special authority from the commander under special circumstances. The number of times it has happened over the USA in the last 80 years can be counted on 2 hands and always results in destruction of property and physical harm to civilians.

  • The wilson cloud forms at transonic speed, right as the aircraft transitions to supersonic. Air being a gas is compressible that’s why you can outrun sound waves, it is not possible to go supersonic in a liquid or a solid anything that occurs in these conditions must travel at the speed of sound not faster or slower.
