Istanbul Cruise Port, Galataport Istanbul, is situated in the central area of Istanbul, Turkey, on the coastlines of the neighborhoods of Galata, Karakoy, and Tophane. The port’s new terminal, covering 29,000 square meters, can accommodate 15,000 passengers and three ships per day. The terminal’s entrance is located in Block D.
Cruise ships dock at Karakoy Yolcu Salonu across the Galata Bridge from the city’s main attractions. The pier is very long and can accommodate up to three large cruise ships. The Galataport Istanbul project aims to boost cruise tourism in Istanbul, Turkey, over a vast territory from the Mediterranean basin to the Black Sea. It is part of a waterfront complex of marina, hotels, and shops about four miles away from the Golden Horn.
The terminal is designed under the ground with a unique design that draws on the cultural heritage of the region. The project is located in Karaköy, right across and within close proximity of the historical peninsula. The Galataport Istanbul cruise ship terminals are located near Galata Tower. Trams run from Karakoy (a few blocks from the terminal) across the Bosphorus waterfront.
