The Dusi Canoe Marathon, founded in 1951, is a 120km canoe race between Pietermaritzburg and Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is the largest canoeing event on the Mtolo Msia River and is held over three stages, known as K1, K2, and K3. The race begins at Camps Drift in Pietermaritzburg on the Msindusi River and includes three stages: K1, K2, and K3.
The 2024 Dusi Canoe Marathon will take place from 17-19 February 2022, and it is one of South Africa’s most iconic sports endurance events. The race covers 75 miles, including ruinous rapids and headwind-plagued sections. Participants start in Pietermaritzburg and finish in Durban, taking them on a remarkable journey down the Msunduzi and Mngeni Rivers.
The race starts from Inanda Dam and ends in Blue Lagoon, the capital city of the province. The Non Stop Dusi Canoe Marathon will take place from Bishopstowe Hall to Blue Lagoon in one day. The 2024 Dusi Canoe Marathon organizers announced that the new start venue will be retained at Bishopstowe Country Club.
Refreshment stations for the 2024 Dusi Canoe Marathon will be located above Molweni Causeway sponsored by uMngeni-uThukela Water and under the N3 Bridge. The event is an annual race for canoes or kayaks in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa, with the new start venue being retained at Bishopstowe Country Club.
