The Raingutter Regatta is a fun-fueled boat racing event that Cub Scouts can participate in. The Scout Shop has curated a kit to help parents and Cub Scouts prepare for the event. The Bobcat badge should be placed in position 1 on the left pocket, centered and directly beneath the flap. The Wolf rank badge should be placed in position 2 on the left pocket, to the left, and down from the Bobcat emblem. The Bear rank badge should be placed in position 3 on the left pocket, to the right, and down from the Bobcat emblem.
The Scout Shop offers an Official Raingutter Regatta Racing Kit to help parents and Cub Scouts prepare for the event. Uniforms can be purchased from the Scout Store or local suppliers. Adult volunteers can update their uniforms to include the Lion patch. Ground rules for participation include keeping activities family-oriented and fun.
The video provides a guide to the placement of most badges as a Cub Scout and where they should be placed on their uniform. The Bobcat badge should be in the 12 oclock position, the Tiger badge in the 6 oclock position, the Wolf badge in the 9 oclock position, and the Bear badge in the 12 oclock position.
Temporary patches can be worn on the right pocket of the uniform shirt, with only one temporary patch allowed at a time. Cub Scouts can wear up to five medals at a time, pinned in a row immediately above the left pocket seam.
Badge Magic Kits are available for those who don’t have sewing skills. Patches and badges can be found on the official Cub Scout uniform shirt, with the Lion rank emblem on the left chest.

Where do Cub activity badges go?
- On the left, the top set of badges are the group badges. You will get new group badges when you are invested so these ones can go onto your camp blanket
- The badge under that is the partnership award, this does not go onto your Cubs uniform.
- The top badge on the chest in the left of the picture is the Chief Scout Bronze Award, this does go onto your Cub Uniform
- The badges underneath are the challenge awards, these go onto you camp blanket.
- On the right of the picture on the chest the top badge is the occasional badge, this is likely to be out of date or unsuitable for Cubs, you could always ask if you think it should stay.
- The badges under those are the joining-in badges, one or all of these should move onto the Cubs uniform. Older joining-in badges can be sewn onto a camp blanket.
- The final badge on the chest is the membership badge, a new membership badge is given to you when you are invested as a Cub.
- Down the right hand side arm are the activity badges. The yellow ones with blue edges can’t be worn because these are Beavers badges but you can move the blue ones with purple borders.
Where does the scout badge go?
The left pocket is used to display your current BSA rank! The badge should be centered on the left pocket and be your most current rank.
The right sleeve is home to some important patches!
The American Flag Patch comes with every uniform already sewn on. The patch should be located directly below the shoulder seam and should be the BSA-issued flag patch.

Where to put Cub Scout badges?
Left Pocket Cub Scout Patch Placement. The World Crest is worn above the left pocket. It is centered between the left shoulder seam and the top of the left pocket. It signifies that the Boy Scouts of America is part of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
The badges of rank go on the left pocket as shown in the image above. They are placed in this order:
- Lion Badge – Below other ranks
- Bobcat Badge – 12:00 Position
- Tiger Badge – 6:00 Position
- Wolf Badge – 9:00 Position
- Bear Badge – 3:00 Position
Lions, our newest Cub Scout rank, wear a t-shirt instead of the blue Cub Scout uniform shirt. When the kindergarteners complete all of the requirements for their rank, they can wear the Lion patch over their hearts on the t-shirt.
What is the highest cub badge?
This is the highest award a Cub can earn. To complete it, you need to earn six Activity or Staged Activity Badges of your choice, as well as all seven of the Challenge Awards. The Chief Scout’s Silver Award shows that you’ve given new things a go, played your part, and stuck it out, even when the going got tough. It’s a really big achievement, and you should be proud.
If you haven’t quite finished your Chief Scout’s Silver Award by the time you move on to Scouts, you can complete anything left during your first term in your new Scout Troop.
When you move on to Scouts you can wear your Chief Scout’s Silver Award on your Scout uniform, until you earn your Chief Scout’s Gold Award.
What is the highest award a Cub Scout can earn?
The highest rank in Cub Scouting is the Arrow of Light Award. Earning this rank prepares a Webelos Scout to become a Boy Scout. Webelos Scouts who have earned the Arrow of Light Award have also completed all requirements for the Boy Scout badge.
This award is the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform when a boy graduates into a troop. Adult leaders who earned the Arrow of Light Award when they were young may also show their achievement by wearing a special square knot on their adult uniform.
What is the hardest scout badge to get?
Communication (Most Difficult Eagle-Required Badge). Overview: I’ve always said that Communication is one of the hardest merit badges for most Scouts to complete. While many badges require you to mainly memorize knowledge, Communication will have you presenting, interviewing, and writing content to complete 7 out of 9 of its requirements!
For 14-year-old me, planning a court of honor, conducting an interview, and presenting a speech were some of the most difficult things I’d done in Scouting up to that point. However, most of you out there will definitely complete your Communication merit badge and earn Eagle!

Where does Chief Scout badge go?
10.21. It is to be worn on the right breast (as illustrated in Positions of Badges on Uniform). 10.21. 1.2 A Cub, on entering the Scout Troop, may continue to wear their Chief Scout’s Silver Award. The award must be removed when the Scout gains their Chief Scout’s Gold Award.
10.20.1.1 All Scout award medals including the Award for Merit and its Bar, Silver Acorn and its Bar and the Silver Wolf, are worn around the neck. Medals that are pinned to the uniform are worn above the Membership award on the left breast.
10.20.1.2 Scout award cloth badges are worn on the uniform shirt in the following order from the wearer’s shirt buttons to the wearer’s right shirt sleeve, left to right: awards for gallantry, meritorious conduct, good service, the Chief Scout’s Personal Award, Commendation Award, Chief Scout’s length of service awards. Awards may be placed on multiple lines following the same award order if they don’t fit within the space on the shirt as described.
10.20.1.3 The Bronze Wolf (awarded by the World Scout Committee) may be worn on Scout uniform. The medal is worn around the neck and the cloth badge worn above this line of emblems.
Where does the Cubs badge go in Sea Scouts?
Worn on the left breast of the uniform above the joining in award (beavers to cubs is the yellow badge). This badge is awarded to Royal Navy recognised sea scout groups who meet and maintain the standards to be Royal Navy recognised.
Where do badges go on sea cadet uniform?
Qualification and appointment badges are worn on the upper right sleeve centered midway between the shoulder seam and the point of the elbow. Qualification Badges are awarded upon successful completion of summer training courses and Appointment Badges are awarded at the corps to indicate which job you have.
Do cub badges transfer to scout uniform?

Badges that are specific to your Section such as ones that only go on a Beaver, Cub or Scout uniform and should not appear on other uniforms and those that appear the same across the Scout Group and can be transferred or worn on all Section uniforms.
