On a cruise, the dress code for formal nights is wide-ranging, with guests expected to wear comfortable yet tasteful attire such as dresses, skirts, long pants or jeans, and stylish tops. Celebrity Cruises dress code for evening chic nights includes cocktail dresses, skirts, pants, or designer jeans with an elegant top. For casual wear, casual pants or nice jeans are recommended, along with a nice shirt or polo. For ladies, capri pants, nice jeans, and a dress code can be worn.
Daytime attire is recommended as casual wear, while evening wear is more polished. Some guests opt for smart dress or trousersskirt with a nice top and proper shoes. On formal nights, proper attire includes tuxedos, suits or slacks for men, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, or dressy attire. Men often wear either a dinner jacket or dark suit and tie. Ladies can wear dresses, gowns, skirts, or skirts. Finally, pajamas, a jacket or sweater, athleisure wear, a hat, sunglasses, sandals, athletic shoes, and dress shoes round out a perfect cruise.

WHAT TO WEAR ON A CRUISE VACATION// Planning what to wear on your cruise and wondering about cruise line dress codes?
Do people still dress up for formal night cruise?
Alternative options to dressing up. Don’t let a dress code scare you off cruising, even if you’re traveling on a line that hosts formal nights. Most cruise lines have relaxed their policies enough so that most travelers will be able to attend a formal night with the clothes they keep in their closet at home—even if it’s a simple request for a collared shirt and a prohibition on jeans at dinner.
Really want to avoid the fancy dress? Remember there’s always the buffet, and room service—casual dressers always have the option to indulge in a night in and wear whatever they please.

What do most people wear on a cruise?
What should I wear during the day?. On warm-weather cruises, loungewear and beachwear are suitable both onboard and off the ship. Pack T-shirts, tank tops and other clothes that are easy to mix and match. In cooler weather, passengers will wear hiking pants, jeans and some loungewear. Luxury ships tend to be a little more formal (i.e. smart casual during the day). On expedition ships, rugged wear is more acceptable. In general, be mindful of any shore excursions and any country-specific dress codes when packing. For example, you might need clothes that cover your shoulders and knees to visit a mosque, or a hat, durable shoes and socks for a rainforest hike.
Is there a dress code I have to follow at night?. Each cruise line has its own dress code for evening attire. Nights are typically either casual or formal, but vary by line and dining venue. Some cruise lines use their own dress code terms that might be a bit confusing. For example, “smart casual,” “casual elegance,” “cruise casual” or “resort casual” all mean the same thing: Dress like you’re going on a dinner date not too sloppy, but not uber-fancy either. Cruise lines will usually list outfit recommendations and restrictions for both men and women, but you’ll see a variety of interpretations on your cruise ship.

Do you have to wear an evening dress on a cruise?
A more polished look is recommended for evening wear when dining in the main dining rooms, speciality restaurants and while enjoying the entertainment in the theatre, bars, and lounges. Collared shirts, tailored trousers or shorts, skirts, and dresses are suggested. It is advisable to layer clothing and bring a light jacket or jumper for cooler nights and the ship’s air-conditioned public areas.
On Gala Night, dress to impress! Whether that means a tuxedo, suit and tie, an evening gown or cocktail dress, or perhaps it’s your very best jeans and polo shirt, your attire should fit your own level of elegance. The only thing required is your smile.

What to wear on cruise ship dinner?
Dinner or “smart casual” attire. If you’re having dinner in the main restaurant or any meal at one of the specialty restaurants, you’ll follow a “smart casual” dress code on most nights. This means long pants, jeans, a dress or skirt, a stylish top, or a button-down.
We want our guests to feel comfortable, so Celebrity Cruises’ dress code for smart casual is fairly flexible, though there are some restrictions. T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps, and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurant or specialty restaurants at any time. In addition, shorts and flip-flops are not permitted during the evening hours.
The smart casual dress code works for all areas of the ship in the evening, including in bars and lounges and during shows and events at the ship’s theater.
Is it OK to wear jeans on a cruise?
Casual. To most of us Brits, casual means one thing and one thing only– jeans! The good news is that denim in the form of jeans, jackets, shorts and skirts is generally a perfectly acceptable daytime casual cruise look, often combined with a T-shirt but check before you go for lunch – those designer jeans may cut it for a promenade on deck but some lines don’t allow jeans in their restaurants, however expensive they might have been!
Fitness freaks can feel free to lounge around in lycra during the day, and of course, no cruise suitcase is packed until it contains at least two swimsuits and cover-ups. Bear in mind swimwear and flip flops are almost always a big no-no at mealtimes unless you’re having a relaxed poolside snack.
Casual can be harder to get right for an evening look as it’s all about looking as if you haven’t tried too hard, but in general, the rule is to ditch the denim and t-shirts in favour of casual shirts and trousers/smart shorts for men and laid back skirts, sundresses and ‘dressy’ tops for ladies.
