Back in college I had a guy friend who’s who front demeanor was your typical gamer, tools, sports, “no homo” sort, black coffee, gym goer, hard liquor. A group of us went to farm petting zoo for some harvest fest and this man kept looking over at the rabbits. Every time we walked passed the pen he’d linger behind looking into the pen. When the holidays came up I got his name for secret santa, and I remembered what he did at the zoo and that they were lionhead rabbits, so I went online, found the fuzziest rabbit toy I could find and gifted it to him thinking it would be a gag gift. He started choking up, and started petting it and pressing it to his face. Apparently, rabbits were his favorite animal and he never told anyone this fact and he’s wanted a rabbit ever since he was a kid, but rabbits were just not a “pet for guys.” Dude had the stuffed animal on his lap the entire rest of the party. He got a bunch of other gifts that he liked but that rabbit, by the end of the evening it was tucked behind in his hood. It was probably the best $10 I ever spent.
The same can be said for the females! Don’t get me a vacuum, exercise equipment or a instapot for a gift. No we don’t want a little wake up surprise as a gift either. Yes we would absolutely love some alone time away from children that we have to be with all day long! Why would anyone with a brain and is older then 18 think giving a Best Mom, Dad, husband think that is ok for a gift???? The absolute worst one I got was something that my husband got for free and decided to gift it to me. He bragged about it to me and I like really!!!!! No words no words at all.
Many men I know (including myself) would love power and hand tools. I’m a carpenter by trade and it’s always helpful to have multiples of same tool even. Sometimes day laborers show up without tools and it gets annoying when someone constantly asks to use your tools, so if I have a backup, I can loan it to them. Sometimes these tools have taken a human being out of poverty, sometimes they walk off, but in the end, im always happy to see a new tool.
I think this completely depends on the man and how well you know your man. For example my man is always complaining about not having the right tools to do the yard or build things, which is what he enjoys most, that’s how he relaxes, so getting him a few tools is something he is over joyed by because its to make his life easier in what makes him happy. A lot of men are actually very sensitive to smell, so getting a cologne may actually be a terrible idea unless you know for a fact which one is his favorite. If you know your man well enough you would know he only likes the snap back hats or whatever it is. As women we over think things but if we just pay enough attention our men then we would understand that there is no right or wrong thing to get for all men, just what is right for our man.
I took some of your advice into consideration and it worked. Thank you 😊 I hope my husband knows for my birthday I would like the kids to go to my in laws and for him to cook dinner for me and we sit and eat it quietly and have some intimate time. Some people might think it’s small but it’s what makes me happy.
I laughed so hard at this article. I don’t think every man wants the same thing, but I think a lot of men agree with what not to get. I know there’s people commenting saying that, that’s exactly what dads and guys want, but not everyone and they do eventually get bored of getting number one Dad shirts and mugs all the time year after year after year after year. My husband and I have had to throwaway numerous coffee cups and mugs and t-shirts. There is nothing wrong with wanting some alone time. It does not mean that your marriage is bad or that your relationship is bad. My husband and I have been together for 9 years, and we regularly give each other a day off to just breathe and take your time and do whatever the hell you want to do. I 100% agree with the barbecue stuff, tools, and Lawn Equipment. That’s how I feel when I get kitchen appliances or a vacuum on my birthday or anniversary or Christmas. It implies that I should be in the kitchen or cleaning all the damn time. Pay attention to the end of the article! He says to observe your partner, listen to your partner, watch your partner and get him something he actually wants, something he actually likes and enjoys even if you don’t like that he likes it or don’t understand why he does. Communication is key, you can simply ask what somebody wants and figure out a cute surprising way to give it.
For Christmas this year…Since my husband travels so much, I’m getting him a Cologne monthly subscription. They send him a 30 day (4-sprays) per day bottle of a different cologne each month. small enough to travel with and he gets to test out a dozen throughout the year to see if he likes it. Plus I’m getting him an Airline Gift card…He can use it pay for a 1 day entry at the Airline Lounge during his travels. If he likes the lounge, we will get him a yearly membership for his next gift. You had great ideas…Giving a drill to a man is like getting a vacuum cleaner for mother’s day from him. Although, I would love tools for myself, since i do a lot of crafts, not something I would give hubby.
I totally get it on the mugs lol. My husband hates how many mugs we have. But if I were to get him a robe, he would look at me like I’m crazy and say something like “Do I look like a girl or what, I’m not wearing a robe” I think everyone is so different, you just have to know what your spouse likes. He would def take bedroom time over alone time, and I know that for a fact. He even would rather me be around all the time, just maybe not talk as much as some of us girls like to talk lol. Good points made here, but not all are universal.
Not sure what type of women you e been dating. I’ve know my partner since 1994 and he’s more emotional than I am. I listen to him all though the year and take note of things he likes and things he says he wants. Mostly it Lego or Star Wars, he will be More than happy 😉 . One year I bought him a new watch. He was never a big watch fan, but his face lite up with a huge smile when I bought him a invicta star wars stormtrooper watch. It’s not a Rolex or an expensive watch. But he loved it and has bought two other watches in the same type. Shouldn’t gifts be from the heart and a gift that you think your parter would like. Not what I want them to have or what I like. The gift I choose for everyone is the gift I believe they would really like .
My boyfriend is very manly and I have given him quite some gifts but to my surprise the gift he said he liked the best was two bobble heads that were like mini me and him holding hands😂 and I got confused coz that was not what I expected. He liked them so much he put it on the shelf over the tv. I am thinking of gifting him something coz its been a long time that I ordered something for him . Probably I think I’ll go with the cologne. He has a lot of cologne’s but I’ll try ur words on men liking to hoard the stuff they like .also that way I’d have to think less about what to gift . It is like some serious brainstorming
This man seems like the most unappreciative person I ever seen it would be so toxic to date him … Omg My advice to you girls as a gay manly man : _Does your lover like daggers? Find a unique dagger online, A dagger can not be found in local stores. It will be a special gift and will be treasured for a very long time . _How about a complete shaving kit : Especially if his kit is old or he uses a razor daily, I am sure that a suitable shave kit will be excellent. _ A shoe brand that matches his style of clothing _ Men’s hair care set _ A distinctively silver ring, and I suggest buying it from special sites on the Internet, They have distinct styles like Vikings styles …. Remember, you don’t have to buy special gifts like these every year or every occasion, but they are gifts when you really want to give him something special for him to remember for a long time. For ordinary occasions, the ordinary gift will be fine too There is a small note: When this guy mentioned that men would love money as a gift, I cannot speak for all men but if someone or a partner or a friend gave me money as a gift I would be quite uncomfortable to accept it tbh .
Pffft my man still hasn’t worn the high end robe i bought him last few Christmases and the cologne he liked and i got him hasnt moved an inch since last Christmas 🤣 hes more a soap and lotion natural scent kinda guy. None of these suggestions help me on to the next article for my complicated guy to gift😅
Not all men are the same but I totally agree on needing “peace and quiet” or “complete positivity” on a special day. I know my man need some time off sometimes. And when I give it to him, he loves me more. Think like a man, with man’s logic, it might be tough but you know, not everything is all about YOU!!! That’s the way to get the best gift for them, is to stop thinking like a woman for a day!! ❤
My Best Gift ever was as a kid and getting a Real Full Sized Erector Set from my Mom & Dad at a Time such gifts were beyond their budget for Me & my younger brother. We had hours of Fun, Dad helping us Build things and showing us how to use screwdrivers and wrench, how to read instructions and blueprints, because it was The Deluxe Version in around 1960, Now at 68, a simple phone call from friends & Family are probably the most welcome things we truly Enjoy. Have an Amazing Holiday you all Deserve and don’t forget the people in your Life that Love you and Care about you, are the True Best Gift
Got my husband his comfy work socks, his cologne, favorite sports teams’ loungewear and i agree the kids always talk when his tv show or movie night is on so I got him a sound bar for Christmas last yr.He did laugh at the socks was first gift opened -but hey when u got holes in the socks just wash them then donate them in one of those clothing donation bins or wash them and reuse them as a rag. The compliments are for both the kings or queens in your life ☺️
Thank you not all men are the same though lol. My man is pretty simple. He doesn’t care for high end stuff. I offered him the time to leave him to have peace and quiet from me and the kids and he told me no he likes having me and the kids around. He does work all the time so he really enjoys the little time we do get to spend time together. I do agree that every woman should truly pay attention and learn what their husbands actually want and like. My hubby loves ammo and guns lol. So I will probably find ammo among other things for him for Father’s Day. Thanks for your suggestions
I wanted to make some good food, and pack a picnic basket, and we go to the beach. I wanted to do something more special and meaningful. He actually likes it when I plan fun stuff for us to do, and when I try to make something special. For his birthday I made him his favorite dessert, and we went to the movies. Usually what I do is if I don’t know what to get him, we just go to the store he wants to shop at and he can pick what he wants and I get. Cause sometimes when it comes to gifts I’m not the best.
This proves that every man is different. My hubby totally wanted a couple of RYOBI sanders for Christmas and he is in love with coffee (he goes to coffee con). The only football he likes to watch is the Super Bowl. I gave him cologne a few years ago and he only used it twice. Sorry but for my hubby this one was a bit off. Oh, and he doesn’t have “an addictive spirit” (wth). Goes to show we shouldn’t generalize.
I looooved this article! Thank you so much I have been overthinking about the perfect anniversary gift and you just made it easier. The part of: “We want money!” It’s totally accurate 😹 my husband is so sweet and generous and I never know what to get for him. After perusal this article, I decided to give him $1k for shopping and he was the happiest ♥️
For 30-40 on cologne is best, but not 60!!?? Money I can kinda agree with, but if they know me well; then I’ll give them a chance to find something. If they can’t, then I might ask for money; and a way to return the gift. For me I want something that is very good quality, reasonably priced, practical, that lasts long; and is something that is intentional to what I’d like that my significant other should know about me. For example, my most recent gift I got from a friend is that they remembered that I’m interested in astrology and my sign; so she went to get me a zodiac bracelet. That was intentional, practical, and thought out.
Dont listen to this guy. A robe?! For God’s sake’s, we love to walk around the house wearing underwear only. If you married/live together/have kids. – Tools, this is something we love but hate buying. – Book at hotel in a nearby town/city. We love spending time we our family/significant other. – A nice grill or grill accessories. – Anything related to his hobbies.
Okay! I’ma break my man off with some cash this holiday season and a nice robe. He deserves it. Thanks for keeping it all the way real with us 💯 And omg, I have no idea what some of these comments are about. “Real Dads don’t want peace and quiet”. Quit lying!!!! You know how I know that’s bull… because I would LOVE to have peace and quiet over flowers on Mother’s Day. Give me breakfast with the fam then turn me loose to have 1 day to just focus on my hobby. That one goes both ways when you have kids. It’s one of the best gifts you can give your SO, esp if the house is already clean.
I’m a female and I just want to say I NEVER understood women thinking that sleeping with their husbands or boyfriends was some big gift for any occasion. What a dumb idea. But let me clarify- if you’re not already giving this to him on the regular then you got a lot more to worry about. If you already are- then This is the laziest idea. Now unless you literally go ALL out and put together a lap dance and a sexy outfit and a boudoir and candles and the whole 9yards- then ok. I’m sure he will love that. That’s my opinion
Ahahahah loved it! Anyway my boyfriend always says he needs to pay attention and shut up, because if he nominates something he’d like to have (also as a joke or not seriously), he’s going to find it as a gift from me ahaha. Sometimes he doesn’t even remember he has said he wanted a certain thing… Well he can’t say I don’t pay attention 🙂
My husband is my favorite person and my best friend, We play articlegames together every day in our computer room. he has never told me “all i want is for you to give me some peace and quiet” sounds to me like you need to talk to your partner about boundaries if you feel suffocated by your own wife and kids to the point you make a article online telling women that men everywhere think this way…. concerning to say the least
Loved this! Some other ideas: gold, silver, high quality flashlights, headlamps, ammo, and anything survival to protect his home and family. A deep house clean, car wash and interior detailing, and organizing the garage or his closet – hire out or DIY as a gift of your time and effort. A special concert with his favorite band, his favorite comedian coming to town, or his favorite restaurant. Some men don’t but mine does every so often, gets a mani pedi that I used to do once upon a time. Hire out lawn service, gutter cleaning, leaf removal, landscape project, washing windows, and edging sidewalks, curbs, and beds from small contractors in your community looking for work.
Best Ever stuff is a cop out I have done when I ran out of time, something didn’t show up in time 🤣 or when he won’t give me an idea when the newest article game or movie he might want isn’t out yet. 😂 I already got this list covered. For the money thing, I have totally gotten him a gift card to a store that he might not have shopped at a lot because the stuff is out of his normal price range, so I look up the most expensive thing I can afford and gift him that amount, sometimes it’s a place with things I know he likes that he’s never heard of but the quality or service is better than he’s used to. 🤷♀️ Thanks for the cologne ideas. I’ve gotten the Versace, but never heard of the other two and can’t stand spending time in that part of the store for long before going nose-blind.
Omg Ladies, this man is telling the truth. I give my man what he wants … I gave my man -birthday ps5 with 4 games, ( he don’t have much time to play but when he does he up to 3am ) – cologne (Creed) Father’s Day – $$$ 1000 this year for Christmas – my guy likes snap backs & Jordan’s so I get those BONUS GIFT he didn’t mention* 1: Sporting tickets ( 2) Not for u & him either ( he don’t want u to go,trust me) 😂Buy him one to share with one of his best buddies or son 2: JEWELRY( if u have the extra funds) : a nice Cuban link or rope( if he’s flashy)👌🏾maybe a cool ass watch or ring … ladies none of that dad shit either .. get him a watch he can wear to an event ( if you’d notice it on another man, that’s the one ) 3: CAR STUFF: if he’s into cars get him a gift card to get his car detailed or some dope seat covers or new mats ( do some research what are men talking about ) don’t be getting your man no weird stuff either .. rule of thumb .. if you’d put it in your car DONT BUY IT FOR HIM 😂
My man I work in a hotel here in Boston I’ve got probably 280 290 ish bottles of the best that’s available been collecting since probably the early 80s and started out with desiigner blah blah blah you know the ones the Versace Calvin Klein they got all of those but when I get on Niche and started wearing a lot of Anish at my hotel and I wear a different one every day I hear it all the time all the time but the queen always says to me i don’t know what to get you because I have all the goods now so I tell her listen to what I’m saying if I tell you something I’ve been eyeballing then get it if I mention something to you like whatever it would be even though it’s a high-end Niche you know when it comes time for Mother’s Day or your birthday that there is no strings attached or no price too big for whatever you want but for me she always thinks that I let you pick out those high-end colognes that I know you like to get and I always tell her it’s nice when you listen and you go and get one one I’ve been checking outanywfar as all the other stuff I’m a very simple dude and ask for NOTHING and you’ll never be disappointed 😏🙏
This list is all backwards. First of all, I enjoy my grrls company, or i would keep looking. So don’t artificially leave me alone in the other room. If I want to be alone, I will tell you and then who wouldn’t allow that? If my girl kept on after I told her I want to be alone then i would just rephrase my request to I have to take care of business, cause she knows I have a business with clients and I can’t have any background noise Also, if she buys me some kind of tools, it’s because she has been paying attention to me, I probably said something like “I need to invest in a compressor and maybe she asked her dad after he and I worked on something. I’m not going to disappoint her after paying attention like that. That is a thoughtful and impressive gift. Better than cologne and a strip of fabric my man. The greatest boyfriend mug would be lame, I agree, but what about, satisfactorily bulbous, just like I always dreamed of (in bed) a little honesty is cool. It’s nice to know you are making her happy, maybe not as much as her ex, but that’s why you get her a mug that says, not quite heroin but I love my little bottle of Bayer prescription strength breathing birthing person. It’s funny and it’s her. In all her glory.
Your article is a bit odd. Idk who would buy their man any of the things you listed. I’ve gotten mine gifts I knew he would enjoy and I listen to everything he says he likes so he is usually so excited like a child when I give a gift bc it always good. I’ve given a new iPhone, iPods, Jordan’s, cologne, jewelry, fitted caps that he likes, etc etc and he still uses and wears everything. I watched this article bc I’m out of new ideas and this year I have to think extra hard bc idk how to top any of the amazing gifts I’ve already given
If the man has a hobby. Anything you get him related to that hobby is usually a good safe bet. If he’s into fishing. Don’t buy him a fishing t-shirt. Buy him some new lures he can go try out. Something he can actually use. Don’t get something that represents that hobby, rather something he can use for the hobby.
I think the only thing you hit on the money is get something he collects or related to his fav hobby (but it has to be something useful and meaningful). Money/gift card, I guess it would be okay. But its pretty thoughtless. Peace and quiet, straight talk, fragrance, robe (really, a robe?), nope. But your fragrance game is on the money, I just find it too personal for a gift. Chances are, the woman is going to get what she likes and what smells good on her. I think the best gift is take a dude shopping. Give him a budget and go t his fav store.
Sure but what if your a guy who was designated to buy another man a gift? Honestly I’m against buying other men gifts. My opinion has always been that Christmas is for kids…and women. I personally dont want any gifts from anyone. But now I’m in this position that I’m supposed to buy a gift for someone that I have to fly across country to see. Idk. I always felt like “I keep my money, you keep your money, and that is gift enough.” Saves the hassle of shopping and getting something no one wants.
ngl, you had me in the 1st half thinking this article is Bull, I like figuring shit out and building stuff but yeah F the mowing the lawn, but then you said gift me peace and quiet, straight answers & no mind games made me realist damn ive been a sucker and selling myself short all this time, my man being real right now, this Christmas imma just tell her to STFU for once and let me sleep in and to leave the whiskey on the bed side table XD
I’m married to a spoiled dude who gets himself everything he wants, as soon as it comes out. Trying to get him gifts is a headache… but gifts are his love language, so I gotta 😩 My original father’s day plan was a dinner cruise with no kids. But the company closed for renovations until August 😭 He already has so much designer cologne, toiletries etc. I got him a Robert Graham button up because he collects them and wears nice shirts to church. But I wanted to do something else and have no idea what 😬😬😬 maybe I’ll get him 2 Robert grahams 😅😅
Tom Ford is like $300. Versace is played out and so is Dior Sauvage. And why I want my husband out attracting women like that? My husband is already black and looking better and better with age. He don’t need to smell single. Get him some YSL “Y” or Homme le Parfum It’s luxury, versatile somewhat affordable with gift sets as low as $30 at Kohl’s rn, but it’s not a NPC, player cologne. The best clone for YSL is Lattafa Fakhar. OR .. My new son in law, I got Armani Code Profume and for his dad I got Code Absolute. (Don’t give clones as gifts better to give sample than clone) Fragrances can be the best gift if you do your research and do it right. Dig a little deeper than the obvious but not mediocre.
I kind of thought Father’s Day was about celebrating being a father, spending time with your kids. Not going and secluding yourself in a room perusal football by yourself. Plus, how do you think that would make your kids feel like? Dad would rather be alone perusal g football and drinking beer than spend time with me/us on Father’s Day? My husband wouldn’t like majority of these things. He hates being alone, I’m the one wanting some alone time and he’s the one always wanting to do things together. He also hates robes and thinks they’re unpractical. He loves gym shorts and has a million pairs of them that he lounges in or just goes out and about in.
You talk too much. Get to the dang point. Blah blah blah…cologne blah blah blah cash blah blah blah. Not all men watch football. Not all men wear robes. I have a man’s man. Cash? Lol. He wouldn’t accept it from me. Only good suggestion is cologne however he’s particular about it. Last idea was the best. What a waste of time.
I don’t fully agree with your suggestions, as a man I don’t mind a best bf or husband mug; but not every birthday. Some of us like tool, but not all of us want it for just labor/chores with them all the time; although if we asked for it or you know we need it then I’m happy they got it for me. I agree that peace and quiet is sometimes needed, and having my free time to myself; but it doesn’t mean I don’t want them around. I guess I’m different, because I love close intellectual conversations with friends n my significant other; and tangents are fine to a extent. Sure I like cologne, but endearing complements are fine. Not everyone wants designer, but a good quality cologne is something I’d like. I care more about the quality, and the notes that come off it.
This is giving very Andrew Tate energy😬 yikes. Babes please don’t listen to the rest of the things. But do actually pay attention to what your man likes and get him more of that. The rest of what this man is on is complete 💩 Ok so my husband wants to spend time with me always. His love language is quality time and physical touch. Which matches me so we can’t get enough of spending time with each other. Second. My husband doesn’t even wear deodorant because he surprisingly doesn’t have any smell. So he doesn’t feel the need to wear cologne. He actually dislikes wearing cologne. Third. He’s the breadwinner in the family. He calls me his trophy wife. Fourth, my husband dislikes robes. We are from Vegas and he hates the heat.
Keeping it real for you dude! But I think a lot of Daddy’s like having their kids and wife around on their day. But hey I loved your suggestions …. Not bad but women know their men and I think that makes a man feel special and appreciated from his lady. Women know our partners better than their mamma’s 😅
every woman also want to have a kitchen peace and quite and to take the kids the father to go for a walk with them. Also mothers want to chill out and go out for a coffee without the kids but most of the father are incapable to hold the kids safe for more that 5 minutes. They think that is a woman’s job to raise the kids and make all the housework, but you are wrong. As long as you life in the same house, you(men) have to do equally the housework. We are not your slaves, we are your wifes. We have also needs.
WRONG !!! I gave my husband colognes he never wore it ever. I gave him shirts that says “best husband”, filipino cuss words, filipino foods, socks that has the Philippine flag design, he wore it proudly every single chance he gets! I get him a custom made robe, he made it a wall decoration 😑 But my husband is unique… so unique that if I shut up, he doesn’t feel right, then when I talk, he’s so peaceful he acts deaf. Like I had to use a microphone sometimes to get his attention… as in literally!!! A microphone that has a synthethesizer that can turn my voice into the devils voice … I own 2! That gets his attention instantly 😂😂😂
