Tidal conditions are crucial for determining ocean conditions, and there are no general rules on the best tides for each water activity. For snorkeling, both low and high tides can be suitable depending on the snorkeler’s level and water confidence. The time of day and type of tide are critical factors that affect snorkeling. High tide occurs when the water level is at its peak, and snorkeling during this time ensures warmer waters.
Snorkeling during high tide involves consulting tide charts and understanding patterns of incoming or outgoing tides. Low tides often result in shallow pools, providing a close and clear view of marine life. Other factors like wind, rain, and currents also play an important role, as well as temperature and time of year.
Low tide is better for those who want to get closer looks at coral reefs and is great for beginners as currents aren’t typically an issue. Spring tides occur twice a month around full and new moon, making spring low tides best for snorkeling. Conversely, both low tide and high tide can be good choices depending on the snorkeler’s level and water confidence.
The difference between high tide and low tide can make some coral reefs closer to the surface, but high tides are generally better for scuba diving due to the 1.5-meter tide movement and clearer ocean waters. Some snorkelers prefer a combination of high tide and high sun for the best visibility.
As a general rule, the dry season tends to offer clearer underwater visibility, allowing snorkelers to fully appreciate the vibrant coral reefs.

Would like to plan a trip there for a few days this Summer. Can you recommend a place to stay and any tip on the crab sandbar tours? Any help greatly appreciated. By the way the little gal did a great job. Precious!
