Norwegian Cruise Line offers a flexible cancellation policy called Peace of Mind protection, which allows passengers to cancel their reservations up to 15 times. The FCC will be applied to the guests profile in 7 business days, and refunds will work as usual if the booking is outside final payment. Norwegian Cruise Line has canceled more than seven months of sailings on its Norwegian Sun ship, scrapping the vessels’ planned itineraries.
Cruise cancellation policies apply to airfare and hotel reservations. Norwegian Cruise Line has canceled more than a dozen cruises on seven ships, scheduled for 2025. No refunds will be made in the event of interruption or cancellation by any passenger after the commencement of the cruise. Cancellation fee charges will apply even if the reservation is not cancelled in full.
Guests who have canceled their trips will receive a full refund and a 10% discount that can be used on another cruise through December. If a cruise is cancelled or altered well in advance, guests should not expect anything. If a cruise is modified closer to the departure date, guests impacted by the cancellations will receive a full refund and a 10% discount in the form of a Future Cruise Credit towards any sailing.
If port fees go up at another port, the fees from the now-canceled port will be used to cover those increased fees. Norwegian Cruise Line is cancelling several sailings onboard its fleet for 2025. The only way to get back money outside of their cancellation policy is to have insurance, which may take a while to get you the money.

Why is ncl canceling 2025 cruises?
Norwegian Cruise Line announced it is canceling more than a dozen cruises that were scheduled for 2025.
The recent cancelations are a result of “varied events including the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and Israel,” the company told FOX TV Stations in an emailed statement on Thursday.
Additionally, modified dry dock schedules for ship enhancements, a full ship charter, and a demand for shorter close-to-home voyages to the Bahamas, have impacted the decision to cancel several voyages.
“We are committed to providing exceptional vacation experiences, both aboard our ships and by taking our guests to some of the most sought-out destinations around the world. While we try to maintain original itineraries as much as possible, at times modifications are made to optimize the itinerary, enhance the guest experience or accommodate certain circumstances,” a company spokesperson said.

Will my cruise ship leave without me?
You don’t want to join their lot. A cruise ship can leave without you — and if that happens, it will cost you a bundle. Here are ways to avoid being left behind and what to do if you are.

How to ensure your ship doesn’t leave you. Set your watch to ship time. Lesson one: Read your daily newsletter (delivered to your cabin or detailed on your cruise line’s app), and understand any nuances regarding ship time versus what time it is on shore. When you leave your ship at a port of call, make sure your watch or smartphone is set to ship time.
Know when ‘all aboard’ is. Your ship will set an “all aboard” time, when everyone is expected to be back on board. This is different from the sail-away time, which is usually about half an hour later. It is, however, when the crew starts to pull in the gangways, preventing stragglers from boarding the ship.
Will Norwegian cruise survive?
Norwegian’s 2023 fiscal year showed a full recovery from pandemic-era declines. 2024 is set to be a record year for Norwegian.
A 20% decline may not be enough to justify the risks of owning Norwegian.
It’s been a comeback story for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH -0.70%). After facing near-extinction in the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic, the recovery of Norwegian, along with other cruise line stocks, accelerated in the past last year. Norwegian has taken advantage of pent-up travel demand, continued economic growth, and fleet upgrades to not only survive, but thrive, hitting all-time booking records in recent quarters. Shares of the company’s stock rose early in the year, buoyed by economic optimism. In recent months, however, the shares are down nearly 20% from their 52-week highs, making this a great time to assess Norwegian for long-term value.
Norwegian’s breakthrough 2023. Norwegian’s full-year 2023 earnings were stellar, with revenue up more than 30% from 2019 the last full year before the pandemic lockdowns. While such an increase over four years may not seem impressive, for a cruise operator like Norwegian, this represents not only a return to full strength, but solid growth beyond the last “normal” year before the pandemic. Remember that cruising came to a total halt for 15 months, so Norwegian was without revenue for more than a full year. And, of course, when cruising opened up again, it was only a slow trickle at first. To grow revenue by 32% after a catastrophe like the pandemic is worth celebrating.
How much do you lose if you cancel a cruise?
- From the final payment date to 56 days prior to sailing, the penalty is the standard deposit amount.
- From 55 days prior to sailing to 30 days prior to sailing, the penalty is 50% of the Total Fare or the standarddeposit amount, whichever is greater.
- From 29 to15 days prior to sailing, the penalty is 75% of the Total Fare or the standard deposit amount, whichever is greater.
- From 14 days prior to sailing to the day of your cruise, the penalty is 100%of the Total Fare.
- No refunds will be made if you do not show up for your cruise or if you interrupt or cancel your vacation once it has begun.
The Total Fare is defined as Cruise Charges, Transfer Services, Pre/Post Cruise Vacation Packages and Fly2Fun Air(please note thatFly2Fun Restricted Air which is non-refundable at time of booking). Government Taxes and Fees, as shown on your cruise invoice, as well as any prepaid Service Gratuity, will not be subject to a cancellation penalty and will be refunded in case of cancellation.
(“Cruise Charges” means the combination of the “Cruise Fare” and “Required Cruise Fees and Expenses”. “Cruise Fare” means the amount paid for the cruise which includes full board, ordinary ship’s food during the voyage, but not charges or expenses for goods or services voluntarily or incidentally incurred by Guest, including, but not limited to, for spirits, wine, beer, soft drinks or mineral waters, shore excursions, salon and spa services, room service or dining in specialty restaurants, charges for any medical services received onboard, or Service Gratuities (as described in your Ticket Contract). “Required Cruise Fees and Expenses” means all mandatory third-party fees and expenses for services on board and in port. “Government Taxes and Fees” includes government-imposed taxes and fees for the performance of the cruise and related purchases, such as port head taxes, VAT, air, and hotel taxes and similar fees and taxes assessed on the transaction.)
What are my rights if my cruise has been Cancelled?
What if your cruise is cancelled?. If your cruise is cancelled, in most cases you will be offered a complete refund by your cruise line. Furthermore, cruise lines will often offer future cruise credits, often at a 110% value of what you paid for your cruise.
However, this doesn’t always resolve all your issues. For example, if your cruise is cancelled last-minute, you may have already spent your non-refundable deposits on things such as flights and hotels. In this instance, it becomes increasingly rare that a cruise line will compensate you.
Cruise insurance generally will cover you for any cancellations and can recoup your lost funds through your insurer.
What happens if you get bumped from your cruise?. If you land in the rare but unfortunate situation of being bumped off your cruise, your rights are similar to a cruise cancellation. You are entitled to a refund from the cruise line but you may still be out of pocket for other expenses incurred.
What is the scandal with Norwegian cruise lines?
Eight people have accused Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) of abandoning them on a tiny island in Africa after a private tour ran late and the group missed the embarkation cut-off time.
Four of the group are elderly and another is pregnant, and though the ship was still at anchor, they were denied boarding.
The ship, the Norwegian Dawn, set sail without them— and it was right to do so.
Once, I was late to check in for a flight. I jumped out of the taxi, sprinted to the counter (which is no mean feat when you’re hauling luggage) and arrived at the desk sweating bullets, prepared to get on my knees and grovel if it meant I’d be allowed through.
